Does anybody have a reliable source on how many skaters there are worldwide? It would be good if its something "official", since I would need it for an essay at uni. Of course it can only be estimated, but I wonder where to find good data about it.
thank you!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skateboarding (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skateboarding)
"A 2002 report found that there were 18.5 million skateboarders in the world."

If you need up to date statistics, I suggest looking through Transworld Business, or emailing an editor there.

Yes, I found that wikipedia thing earlier. But it?s outdated and I dont really want to quote wikipedia tbh. But thanks for the tws business idea, I just wrote them an email. I hope they will answer it...

I don't remember getting surveyed for that. I must not be a skateboarder.

i remember i did some school thing where i had to look at transworlds media kit or whatever and i think there was something in there where the "total demographic" or some shit was like 25+ million. i dunno tho im high right now and my memory isnt necessarily gonna be the best

I could see that being a pretty tough number to actually find out being that skateboarders don't really do that well with organized things
