I've noticed that I've gotten alot of new gear recently based off of different deals & reviews ive seen from posting on here & i really just sat back and realized that something so simple like being ona message board had actually influenced (in one way or another) my everyday skating. Has anybody else noticed that or felt the same way? Discuss.
-
I dont know if SLAP has any correlation to this, but when I play games of SKATE these days against kids, I do my simple tricks fucking fast and make them skate fast also. If they dont, I tell them I'll pour my water bottle all over their new deck. Works everytime.
SLAP's brought out the assclown in me.
-
Mainly just buying gear from the shoes and gear thread. That and thinking about what certain posters would say about certain things, ie Grim, Gipper, or Hate!
-
Ever since Slap, I land bolts. Every. God. Damn. Time.
-
the sad truth is that it has made me skate less.
-
i do more wallies and skate more cellor doors
-

lowkey SLAP made me wanna skate more curbs, do bonelesses, and try more ricky oyola lines down the street on my way to liquor store.

I love you
-
you mean there's another life outside of slap?!
The Simpsons Mr. Plow clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gaEQXs57YQ#)
-
It makes me feel more self conscious about how I'm skating.
-
Since joining SLAP my Fabo levels have tripled.
-
the contents of the magazine more so than this message board has definitely affected how I skate! the message board is just an awesome way to connect with people.
-
I skate less and fap more.
-
Now I skate like a pirate. I'm also compelled to keep it trill.
-
Thanks to SLAP I dont feel bad about being an "older"
skater. Im 27 (I am aware that 27 isnt that old, but it is to still be
skating among my group of mates)
So yeah, thanks slap heads..

omg ur such a asshole

It has influenced my skating in the way that it gives you good conversation starters with friends at the shop or park or spot, and facilitates good skate-related shit-shooting, which builds for a fun session and male-non-gay-bonding non homo and stuff dawg im soooo straight. I love talking the intricacies of the act of skating, and the industry silliness, with dudes who know their shit.
Also, I jack off to soooo many pictures of Dylan Rieder these days.
-
The forum has given me and my friends more people to make fun of.
-
Without SLAP, I would have never seen OIAM.
Without OIAM, I would've never learned that one of the most important things about skateboarding is marketing.
Now, when I go skate, I always skate fully erect (boner) so I can appeal to a larger demographic (women). I just want to be a marketable skater, is all.
-
helped me to improve my english skills ...I'm still using german grammar, haha.
-
Ever since SLAP, women just throw their vaginas at me, making it difficult to skate switch.
-
since slap, my long term goal for skateboarding has changed from going pro, to just being part of team handsome...
-
Slap has kinda just made me feel stupid for trying to ollie el toro more than once cuz the nuge did it ten years ago.
-
The amount of time I spend on Slap is inversely related to the number of yo-flips I will attempt on any given day.
-
Hasn't affected how I skate at all. Still pretty new to this shit so I hop on Slap to learn and find a couple of laughs.
-
Since joining SLAP, I slam twice as hard
-
When I went to Australia, some slap heads helped me find the best parks there. Thanks guys.
-
Anyone know the fastest rate at which someone ever became a SLAP PAL?
-

-
I can't say it's had any effect on my skating, but wherever I travel I know there's a cat or two I can go skate with.
-
My go to tricks arnt gay anymore.

lovepark1 became a pal in like 2 weeks

^^^ ahhaaha

Not so much slap as whiteley, he mentored me for a few years. Taught me to work hard, then quit when things get tougher, quit for a major corporation.then use the remaining goodwill from my previous employer to spam the new corporations propoganda.

No but I can tell you the slowest rate, Ive been here for over 6 years and dozens of accounts later never been a pal, feel like the goddamn black sheep of this place.
You think too highly of yourself. Rawbertson actually probably had the longest wait since he was continually reset for an offense.
-
I tried to cruise without doing the fairy foot(feet kinda close together near the middle of the board) foot position that some people on slap hate but it felt awkward so I started fairy footing again.
-
slap has made me more cynical and more critical of things in general. I am not complaining.
-
Slap made me a man

Isuck knows who I am in real life now.
take that for what you will.
-
I got homies to skate with in Chicago now.
-
Slap made me a man
-
gotten pretty good at photoshoping dicks on photos
-
Met one of my best buds over this thing which lead to even more unimaginable skate trips, friends, good times, etc.
-
Yes, when anybody talks about tricks, I bring up breakfast cereal.

I eat fruit before I skate now.
-
SLAP was a culprit in me nearly jumping out of the second story window. But also it has brought the lolz, and has made me fall in love with skateboarding again because people here are in it for the love of it, and not to talk about how you want to get sponsored and shit like that.
-
I aspire to be on team handsome
-
slap teach me that when a skater have a reality show on mtv and you hate that motherfucker, the motherfucker can become legit sometimes
-
My setup is DLX all the way. I do nothing but slappys, and I will never ever do yo flips
-
dont even know what thunder bushings feel like because of bones hardcores
have more shoes than space to store them
actually started doing yo-shoves and flips sometimes because now i see how much it annoys people, and that makes me laugh
never take anything seriously, especially skating
always do something to my grip out of the norm
always think of alternative ways to hit spots before actually hitting it normally

Slap brought the mallgrab to my conscience,
it also made me buy a Zip Zinger.

I used to put my foot back on my board immediately after pushing. Slap inspired me not to rush it as I realized that it's an aspect of your skating that really affords you the opportunity to express yourself as an artist. Now I try to hang my foot in the air or to the side as long as possible. If I really want to burn some retinas I'll announce "Hey look everyone!" before I do it and then proceed with my push to one-footed skateboard ballet for as long as I can maintain it and keep the attention of the onlooking admirers. Occasionally I'll toss in a pelvic thrust followed by a stare-you-the-fuck-down. This is purely an act of dominance though.
-
Before I stumbled across SLAP I used to THINK that everyone was making fun of me when I skated. Now I KNOW everyone is making fun of me when I skate. Thanks SLAP! :'(
-
I still can't wallie and I've never owned a pair of dickies, but thanks to Slap I probably pay more attention to style than to tricks and want to puke every time I see a yo flip.
-
I've never owned a pair of dickies,
what are you, gay?
-
Slap made me look at meatspin.
-
sometimes i think i would fit well on krooked.

Slap has taught me to hate myself whenever I catch myself cruising around with my feet in the middle of my board. Even though it feels fun, natural and smooth, it makes me feel ashamed of the terrible hipster I am.

WTF...I never knew slap hated that, too. This place has some kooky-ass people. wow.
I do that all the time, and I kind of feel like it's something only confident/comfortable skaters do. It seems like all the new skaters and kooky cruiser-riders try their darnedest to keep their feet more square with their shoulders. The real skaters know wassup

i'm guess this has something to do with kids that are involved in crowded, annoying scenes. it's an anti-fad that will pass.

If you just do that naturally it's one thing. The fact that it's usually contrived is what makes it stupid.

thanks to slap i end all my cellar door lines with a front shove

But it seems more natural for someone to keep their feet somewhat close together...at least if you're generally comfortable with riding your board. People usually don't stand with their feet at shoulder length apart, right?
the only time I need to keep my feet farther apart is if I'm going to actually pop an ollie or if I'm gonna powerslide or something.
All I can really say is, don't make assumptions...although I'm guilty most of the time for quickly judging others haha. Humans are assholes

I find, it happens because I push almost constantly, and when I push I point my front foot forward (like most people, right?), and the best spot to push from is a little bit behind the front bolts. So therefore, my feet remain both close together and almost facing forward, this so called "hipster" stance.
Yeah, I don't understand, there are people in this forum with their feet on the tail and nose cruising down the street?
