what helped me learn was to practice just ollieing out of a manual a shit load of times and feeling really comfortable with that. it's essentially re-learning how to kickflip again, but from a different position? i'm not sure if it makes sense to you, but it does in my brain. just makes sense to begin with the ollie out and than progress from there.

When you are manualing, try to put more weight in your front foot and have the front truck as close to ground as possible without it actually touching the ground, this will make it easier to pop a kickflip out because you have more room in between the tail and ground which gives you more room to pop. This is what i think is the most important factor to getting the flip out. As for foot placement, just set up your feet however you would for a kickflip. You're gonna wanna flick out with your front foot a lot harder than you would on a normal flatground kickflip though.

You need to flick quicker without a doubt.... quick snap and flick since your tail is obviously lower than it would be if you weren't manualing. Maintaining a steady a manual helps a ton too, just try to move your foot as lightly as possible to not lose the manual when getting into the kickflip position. Easier said than done, but it really makes it a hell of a lot easier when you do this as agile as possible.

My question is, how the FUCK do you kickflip out of a back tail? It makes perfect sense while stationary, but while sliding....the second I try to get my front foot slightly off the board towards kickflip position my balance just goes away. I really want to learn these because I have back tails on lock like sliding for days and I feel like I should be able to do them but they make zero sense!

For Me, as soon as you ollie into the manuel, take a sec and adjust your arms , spead  'em apart, then get your feet into kickflip position but front foot further back, lift your head to see how much time you have, then drop your nose down before you ollie, pop, catch, ride away clean, duh...
