Who are some skaters that a lot of people like, but you don't for whatever reason? For me it's Busenitz and I don't know why. I just don't really like watching him skate.

PJ Ladd - his wonderful horrible life part is amazing. It blew me away back then and still does today. But I haven't enjoyed anything since then. Barring WHL he bores the hell out of me.

I strongly agree with Koston.

Cole - gross style, owns a bmx brand???
Gino - Milkman
Pops - Milkman crying over spoiled milk no less
Dill - Milkman (recent comeback seems promising though)
Drydick - everything about the man
Bam- not a skateboarder

and for me the one that gets me in the most arguments is Hensley.  "retires' at the top of his game and then proceeds to make $$ of his name for the next nearly 20 yrs with shoes, boards etc.  Its one thing if the guy still shreds, but I could give two fucks about his accordian and vespa. Haven't seen one remotely impressive trick from the guy since he retired. Its shameful.

If by "sometimes" you mean every time, and by "riding away from a trick" you mean everything he does, even outside of skateboarding, I'll agree with you.

I am not an Austyn Gillette fan. Despite how amazing his Misled Youth and Baker2G parts were, Greco annoys the shit out of me.

his part in the Escapist video is pretty good. he does a few non nosegrind tricks.
but back on topic, i dont really dig Ishod.  that chicken wing arm thing is unpleasant to watch.

I'm Dylan Rieder's biggest fan but he makes it so hard to love him. He's just so full of it.

Also I agree with the Hensley sentiment because he's continues to profit off of skateboarding for 20+ years without doing squat

I like Gonz and he's obviously had a huge impact on street skating but I think a lot of people pretend to like him more than they actually do because that's who you're told you have to like. Same with Cardiel.

I disagree entirely here. Cardiel and his Sight Unseen part alone are impossible not to like.
Infact, now that I think about it, my opinion on John Cardiel is based entirely off that one video part of his. Fuck, what other parts does he have because I honestly don't think I've seen another one of his parts.

At least cardiel never put out an advert where he's fucking kneeboarding, and Cards got his SPINE run over

Don't get me wrong, I love Cardiel and he's done a lot of mind blowing shit on a skateboard. I remember when I saw that photo of him 50-50ing that huge ass rail when I was younger and not really believing it was real. I just think there some people such as younger kids who want to be accepted by the older guys who simply pretend to like guys like Cardiel. Kinda like how there are people who say they like The Beatles or overcompensate on how much they like The Beatles because they were told it was good and not because they actually like the music.

Have to agree on that.  I'd rather watch Dill's part in the A1 Meats video than Memory Screen.  Something about guys whose attitude overshadows their talent that turns me off from wanting to watch them any longer.  That seems to be the case with Dill, but I give him credit for being able to stay in the game so long, he's one of those dudes I could have seen vanishing for good circa 1998.

Awesome post. He came to a friends bowl on that wild ride shit a few years ago. That night he and Kirchart were sitting around picking guitars. I sat down and just kinda started following along w/what they were playing(they both seemed to be just learning). Bout a minute or two later they both just quit and get up and walk off......douches. Oh and neither one skated the bowl at all. Provost and Braydon however killed that shit(yes Braydon, back smiths on the oververt)...Reynolds and Spankey were in there tryna get some too. But yeah, never cared for him or Kirchart after that.

I've always felt like he's the skateboard industry equivalent to pretty, rich girls who are surrounded by people who tell them that everything they do is so fuckin' great. I guess I should say I don't like his skating and I have watched that part a few times to try to understand what people are getting at. I can appreciate the difficulty for the time but not that aggressive tweaked-out style.

However, I did love the stories told about him in that epic'ly later'd and the way the part was presented.

Don't like P-rod, cause I can usually predict 99% of the tricks he is gonna do, since he always does the same things. Like in the creative or whatever best trick section in streetleague he tried to switch back tail heelflip out at every fuckin stop. always the same thing. the lack of creativity is just amazing with this dude. Also Danny way and colin mcennedy both seem kinda weird and annoy me for some reason.. only their talking thou, nothin bad to say about their skateboarding. And i don't like the new penny either. He used to have the best style and tricks, but now he just seems so weird and i don't have anything against weird but it looks like he is just trying to be as weird as possible. Oh yeah Theotis beasly is the most annoying fake dude i can think of, with also sketchy and bad style. Can't stand the cheesy rap song grammar.

Well, Wes, Kalis, and Matt Miller aren't really part of that, nor Evan Smith. They've all been apart of DC for a good amount of time. If you want me to clarify. I meant, Chris Cole, Nyjah Huston, Mikey Taylor, Steve Berra(He's part of the team), and Mike Mo. I'm not down for any of those guys.

Jamie Thomas does his share of over-posing.  And jumping on trends like a teenager.

Poppalardo and Spanky are better suited skating like they did when they first broke out. The banks and pole jams aren't a good look for them. Spanky has an great f/s flip that has been replaced by a sloppy crailslide. Popps best shit is tech. He's looks more comfortable
doing flip tricks but his hipster self hates that. He would also be better if he didn't talk.

I did watch it when it first came out. I didn't get it then and I still don't get it. So your hypothesis, if I use only myself as the test sample, is 100% wrong.

I do think it's funny how upset people get if someone simply says that they don't like him. I'm not trying to be contrary. Like I said in an earlier post, I've tried to get him and I understand he's an innovator, but I just can't.

Not to mention if anybody else mobbed their kickflips like he does they would be torn to shreds and shat on all over this forum.

Im with GAY on this too.. but from my frame of reference i just dont like the dude.. i too have tried to get stoked on Gonz and his videos but i just dont get the hype

i kinda get this whole gonz debate. i only really like his real to reel part (dont start with video days, its great and all but i prefer this part), all the other stuff is kinda.. weird for the sake of being weird.

i am glad that he is in skateboarding though.

Very good point...and I agree.

In spite of my flamboyant online persona, I'm kind-of a total bore in person. In bed by 10:30. Always on time to work. So yeah...professional skateboarding from a personality standpoint would be so tired if people with my personality populated it.

Come to think of it, I'd probably hate me if I was pro.

I always thought that there was too much good skating going on around the time video days came out to give it sole credit for anything. Its like people totally forget that h-street and santa cruz were killing it before blind even existed.

I don't get Jose Rojo. Mediocre in almost every way. I kinda feel the same way about Nestor Judkins too, but he's got a unique trick/spot selection at least.
