Cab front board is wayyyy easier and I know this from experience.
Gonna have to agree with dood. Obviously people's bodies work differently than others, but I'd have an easier go of it with a cab to fs board than bs lip. With the fs board its only a matter of angle and momentum that I feel can be more easily overcome than with the back lip's need for truck clearance especially if you're going to flip the board. You don't even have to level out your board during the pop for the cab to fs board.

I'm calling bullshit on all of you. A cab back lip works in a natural way, all you have to do is a 270 cab and you land right over the rail. Cab front boards you spin away from the rail, meaning unless you are coming at an angle or doing essentially an alley oop cabalarial you aren't going to end up over the rail.
Your line about "landing blindside" is stupid too, are you going to tell me next its easier to kickflip into frontside tailslides than backside ones?

Gipper has a point. I was trying to do them onto a parking block last night and the cab back lip worked much easier. Unless you come at an angle on the cab front board, you're completely fucked. it just doesn't work.

I speak from experience here: cab flipping into frontside bluntsides or back noseblunts down 10 stair rails is actually easier than cab flipping into back lips or front boards. They're always my first 4 tricks out of the car at every session, so you know you can trust me on this one.

...anyways! A lot of the tricks he is doing is "Nyjah tricks" but this part just shows how much style matters! That is crazy (and 10 years ago DAFUQ?!?!?) someone pay him! He's also the most entertaining person to watch at a demo.

I vaguely remember Bastien saying it in some "clear the air" interview. Not so much that it was being held hostage as it was "I was skating at the top of my game and filmed a full part for the next video, but they kicked me off, kept the footage, and never released it." At the time though, apparenty Flip was spreading rumors that he was kicked off for being a drug addict who would rather play guitar than skate.

'footy' is the property of the filmer, or the company itself if the filmer is on payroll for a certain project. if flip didn't put it in the video, its their property & it needs to purchased for anyone to put it out (even whoever filmed it), and they can always just not offer it for sale. so basically the footage defaults to 'held hostage' if it doesn't make it into the video wether someone from flip has said that was their intention or not.

I'm just gonna leave this here. Long story short, he makes it sound like he left Flip on his own accord because moving back to France and staying on Flip wouldn't have worked out.
I feel like people overinterpret the shit out of the Bastien-Flip situation.
I honestly don't believe that "El Toro Kickflip back lip" story as published in Jenkem. It just doesn't add up. Companies don't just kick off awesome skaters in their prime like that. I'm pretty sure there's more to it and I wouldn't expect Flip to come out and spread the word. We have Bastien's side of the story in multiple varieties, but we're not ever gonna get Flip's side. And I wouldn't expect it to be a dramatic story either. There probably were disagreements of a sort and they parted ways.
Holding on to Bastien's footage is lame, but one has to understand that it belongs to the filmer and/or company. They have all the rights to it. Sometimes companies give that footage away (what happened with Arto's Mindfield part) and sometimes they don't. Probably comes down to the amount of money being offered, too. At least they finally got over it and edited all the footy together.
That part was awesome. Probably Bastien's strongest parts regarding individual tricks and lines, but not as mixed up as his parts in Sorry, Extremely Sorry, and the Lordz video. Yeah, that's why I called that "lame". I'm not saying that it's not a lame move on Flip's part, I'm just saying they do have the rights for that footage. And they have released it in other instances (Arto, Mindfield).
And where do those rumors about full parts from Willow and Fletcher come from? Is there any confirmation of this? Willow left Flip shortly after Extremely Sorry, because they couldn't give him a pro board (he asked for one) and he went over to Almost. Flip didn't own much of his footage, because he was mainly filmed by German filmers. They might have some clips not used for Extremely Sorry here and there, but no full part.
To my knowledge, the Chalmers rumors are wrong as well. Flip doesn't even own the footage. Chalmers sent them footy for Really Sorry and they didn't accept it. If memory serves me correct, all of that footage ended up in his Digital Sane part from the same year. So they didn't "hold on to it" or "robbed" him of it. From everything you hear, it doesn't seem like they treated Chalmers too well altogether, but claiming they repeatedly robbed people of their footage is just wrong.
People on here seem to like the idea of seeing Flip as some evil villain of the skateboarding industry, but most of the stories either seem not to be true or are standard skateboard-industry procedures. People leave companies all over the place. But in Flip's case, people make a big deal out of it in every single case.
PS: Here's Chalmer's "robbed part", as well as an interview where he says they didn't "accept" his footy. He even says explicitly that he is free to give it to some other project. Which might still be lame by Flip but is altogether different from "holding on to it".

I guess it depends on the situation. First of all, if something is filmed by someone not under Flip's paycheck, they can't and won't hold onto the footage (Chalmers' case). If someone leaves and asks to use his Flip footy for a different project, they'll maybe give it away. I guess they first have to pay Flip, which, at least in my book, is only fair (Arto's case). And hen there's the case where a rider leaves (in this case Bastien) and is not hooked up by any other company. Obviously, they won't just transfer their footage of him to his hard drive. I guess that's not how it works. So if the new company (Jart) a couple years later isn't interested in the footage or doesn't offer enough money, they keep it. Now that Bastien made his "hidden" part public in Jenkem, Flip might've been in a position to put it out there. Or they came to an agreement.
My point is, people on here (me included) tend to see the issue from the position of a skaterat and can't wrap their head around Flip holding onto his footage. We want it all out there and see Bastien ripping. Which makes sense. However, I'm just trying to understand the issue from a company's point of view. Therefore, I looked at what was said by people involved and what adds up at the end of the day. Which makes it sound less dramatic than people on here might want to see it.
As for people being based in Europe, I'm fully with you. However, especially until Cliche was taken over by Dwindle, it wasn't a US based company at all and apart from Joey Brezinski they didn't have any US based riders. Brezinski had to fly over to Europe multiple times a year. However, in that case he helped to advertise them IN THE US by him being based there. It was kind of a reverse situation. Now that Cliche's under Dwindle, they obviously can't relocate all their riders to the US all of a sudden, but they did become visibly "americanized" since then. Flip is fully based in California and they obviously prefer to have their riders close to them, no matter whether they started out from England or not. Penny might be a special case because he was a main factor why Flip was able to establish itself in the US in the first place. I would also think that he still sells a lot of product. However, I too find it fucked that people based outside of California or New York have such a hard time in the industry. But that's by no means a phenomenon limited to Flip.

- I think maybe people forget, or don't know, how hard it is for english and french people to get along. completely different mentality, especially if you take into account Bastien is from the South of France, Toulon. Comparing large scale tragedies is stupid. European settlement killed off more people, but the Holocaust did it at a faster rate until the Nazis were defeated. Really, the Nazis were better at killing, but worse at maintaining their own power. The thing is, whether you were being mowed down by American Gatling guns in South Dakota or you were smothered with Zyklon B- it was fucking terrible, and the fact that society accepted both as ok is almost beyond comprehension.
Though, its not completely beyond comprehension, every one of us with a cell phone has been complicit and has helped fund a genocide in Congo that is currently going on, has been going on since 1996, and has claimed anywhere from 5-8 million Congolese people.
