I'm claiming either Mark Gonzales in Video Days, or Marc Johnson Fully Flared. I can't choose between the two haha. I'm interested to see what you guys think though.

ive always wondered that too

PJ in the PJ video. i get the feeling heath had carlos ruiz blackballed for one upping him at el toro and that white hubba.
-
PJ in wonderful horrible life. Seriously untouchable.

Are you serious? He had my LEAST favorite part in that video.

I'm definitely aboard the PJ ladd WHL hype train as well.

i read an interview along time ago and heath brought up that kid just seeking out all of his spots and it was whack, ive also heard that after what if, he was getting paid well and bought a house and car but ended up not being able to make the payments so he got a job and grew up basically...
but the real obvious answer to this thread is heath kirchart in sight unseen!
avant garde double lipslides so long ago
-
I think this depends on what time period you started skating. But since i started skating in like 2001, Pj vid was on repeat forever in my VCR at that time i was glad it came out in dvd eventually because i use to hate rewinding my VCR to keep watching PJ's part .
-
impossible question.
but last time i remember everyone talking about one skate part.. jake johnson in mindfield.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gx4PKwSfNY (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gx4PKwSfNY#)
but classics are classics. so many good ones.
-
I knew this tread was gonna do this.I agree with numerous people and say PJ's part in WHL.However Gonz in video days,Cardiel and Heath in sight unseen and Arto and Geoff in Sorry are all up there personally
-
PJ, and I started in 1989
Duffy a close second
-
PJ Ladd in his Wonderful Horrible Life. All the ones mentioned above are good to. Carlos Ruiz, hahahahahah.
-
Nyjah Elementality vol. 1. or Tosh Townsend This is Skateboarding.
-
Something about watching Pj WHL part for the first time it was just like magic. The Pulp song, the tech skating, Curly fro, long lines without pushing ive very rarely felt that overwhelmed with a video part even to this day. There's probably only a handful of parts that have done that to me including some of the other ones already mentioned.
-
Arto in sorry
This. #2 is gunna have to be trapasso in suffer
-
Think these two need to be put forward. Trying to definitively answer this question is impossible though.

Anyways, wash that taste out of our mouths. I love all the parts above, but there really is something special about this one. I hope PJ gets another epic part.

I'm going to have to jump in and say PJ in WHL. I'm not sure what it is about that part but it's just perfection personified in a skate video.
Honorable mentions: Arto and Geoff in Sorry, Trapasso in Suffer the Joy, any Rodney Mullen, Koston in menikmati and yeah right....
-
i love when 19/20 year olds post "video days" parts
-
jake johnson mindfeild is my personal favorite
-
I also had Tommy Guerrero's Future Primitive part in mind! Seriously, I watched that thing 2 or 3 times a day, every day, my 10th grade year. And Jerry Hsu Bag of Suck is such a classic too!
-
It's Carroll in Questionable. It just is.
But all good modern parts likely wouldn't have been possible w/o Video Days so you can't not mention those.
-
Bastien in Really Sorry is up there.
The one that will stand the test of time is PJL WHL. Too good.
-
In all of history... probably not this. But its pretty fucking great.
Mike Carroll - Transworld Skateboarding - Modus Operandi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJouJOKcGq8#)
-
There's obviously no best but Bastien's really sorry part has to be up there.
-
agree with anyone who has mentioned Jake's Mindfield and Trapasso Suffer the Joy
-
There's obviously no best but Bastien's really sorry part has to be up there.
This is the 2nd time this was mentioned. Is Bastien's Really Sorry part generally accepted to be better than his Sorry part? To me, the energy from the Sorry part is unmatched by anyone and also, he skated to Black Eyed Peas in Really Sorry. I agree that this is an impossible question though, just like best album/book/movie.

second this! modus and sight unseen are still the most memorable tws vids for me. cardiel in s.u. was mindblowing to me at the time and reset the parameters of what gets me stoked. and the heath part at the end shut down handrails for me. what nyjah does nowadays is probably more impressive, but to me there was nothing exciting about big handrail/hubba skating anymore.
if pat duffy gave birth to gnarly railmoshing, heath put it to the deathbed, leaving for everyone else to corpserape, drained of its blood, like a vampire. i realize i say this because of how young i was when i saw it and the duffy reference is obviously invalid, as i hadn't seen that part probably until there was a youtube rip of it and really no one knew how to rate these anyway as getting a copy was so rare.
asking mom for 40dmark/25euros for a 411 vhs that's probably a year old and probably 20min long with lots of park footage and awkward day in the lifes watching kareem campbell eating chicken pieces with penne and red sauce. i recreated that meal and it was delicious!!!
fucking nostalgia blast right here.

It's Carroll in Questionable. It just is.
But all good modern parts likely wouldn't have been possible w/o Video Days so you can't not mention those.
This part seems to get neglected these days, i guess everyone just gets stuck on the Danny Way and Pat Duffy aspects of this video and forget that Mike Carroll was first to do at least 10 or so tricks in this video part.
-

Good call on Daewon in Skate More. I still watch that part regularly and am blown away by it. So much good in every way possible- style, tricks, spots, technical difficulty, creativity, street, tranny, everything was amazing aboutit.

Here are two parts I can't believe I forgot.
Chris Cole in ride the sky and the boss in stay gold.
-
cross continental was pretty amazing even though its pretty new compared to alot of the videos listed in this thread
if i had to choose a classic, dill in mosaic comes to mind also Wenning in photosynthesis. its skateboarding though so no one part will ever really be the best.
edit : (pj in PJWHL that one really is the best)
-
arto in sorry <3
-
PJ's WHL is the best, but Ricky's EE3 is probably my favourite.
-
Arto in sorry, plain clear simple talent.
First part that came to mind. After thinking about it for a minute, I'd still choose Arto. All the ones mentioned in this thread are definitely up there though.
Danny Way - DC Video as runner-up, anyone?
-
Here are two parts I can't believe I forgot.
Chris Cole in ride the sky and the boss in stay gold.
Id say Chris Cole in New Blood instead of Ride the Sky.
I would add Cardiel in Sight Unseen and TNT in In Bloom
and of course most of the parts that have been mentioned before.

One of the best:

Ethan Fowler - Visual Sound is a great mention...although, I prefer his surfing around in Tincan
PJ - whoever made the comment about rewinding the VHS tape again and again and again and again is right on

Rodney is obviously insanely talented, but that doesn't mean his parts are the most fun to watch.

I'm surprised you posted this because I thought you had a hate boner isuck. It's nice to see you'd look past that.
There is a disturbing lack of support for Koston in this thread. He's only been mentioned like twice.
PJLWHL is definitely my most watched video part, but I don't that I'd call it the best. This question is too hard and has made me rewatch a shit ton of parts. It's like you've given me a homework assignment.

Previously I posted a Carroll part that I really like, but in all honestly with further thought for me the best part is this (music, tricks, style...):
Rob Welsh - Ryde or Die Vol. 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxOs8h04iNo#)
-
Imagery, music, slams, theme, and raw ass skating:
Lennie Kirk - Alien Workshop Time Code (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5j2hOxLo88#)

Eric Koston - Chomp On This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxgDNf3Y5f8#)

Jerry Hsu Enjoi Bag Of Suck (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f98u3v7D5zA#)
Soo glad most of us are agreeing on this. i remember loving the maple videos, the bag of suck was literally the most creative video ever made by an independent skate co. not some flashy high budget production. Jerry, Louie, and Caswell, and the friends section is amazing, but to this day ive never seen such creative and innovative doubles, triples skating in unison in the one section they had at the park when louie did all the crazy tricks with a million pennies glued on the bottom of his board...
i cant believe how many people cant appreciate newer stuff, i mean i love me some old ray barbee, guerrero, natas, stranger, but anyone who believes these legends dont have skaters nowadays that equally compare and compete with them in terms of everything are clueless (it's just like people who say All music sucks nowadays/ or i hate the remake of this movie because i love the old one); the problem is, these people dont give things a chance (paying more attention to the time period CMON GUYS EVERYONE KNOWS THE CLASSICS BY NOW, who the fuck cares if you love carroll's modus part WHO THE FUCK DOESNT? (marc Johnson just came out with his best part ever, so that proves that point. its been mentioned forever on these threads. lets look at the guys who have been inspired by them, and see who stands up.
WHy is there so many wannabe trendy suckers in skating, deliberately only posting old "classic" stuff as their "favorite parts". However, im glad someof us people share the same topical opinions... Gravette's new creature part along with AND NOW part made me look at him as the gonz of high impact skating, and dude seems like one of the most down to earth guys in the game, including jerry.
Daniel Espinoza's bangin to this day, might be one of the most insane performances on a skateboard ive seen.
Daniel Espinoza: Bangin'! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIXnkkJXRjI#)
cant leave out PJ's whl (was my favorite in middle school, but truthfully i liked gallant's part just as much), and now since then i look at PJ as boring as prod nowadays, just super slow skating, very very non-individualistic style, i loved seeing him get pissed at nyberg during their berrics game, and thought it was really a gump ass move when he said in the interview he was embarassed to do the guy's tricks.
Well fuck PJ, Im embarassed everytime i watch you roll five miles an hr in every berrics game, not missing any of the basics, sloppily making the harder ones, and almost everytime the dude hes playing has style miles above his flat ground steeze, but he always wins so whatre you gonna do. I loved it when Morgan Smith, a nobody at the time came in and SKUNKED him for the championship berrics
Justin Brock has a part in a NC video called Carolina Love, right before he blew up (It's Still his Best PART IMO). If most of you saw it, youd be surprised, dude skated completely different spots back then, going balls to the wall, i grew up skating in NC with him and i thought for sure he'd become the next Cole or Reynolds (he's gettin there though, just seems like hes goin the old man tranny route moreso laltely/ CHeck out Brock in 2005 how hard this motherfucker goes to two perfect pixies songs..

Dan Murphy and TSpliff in the WTF video, besides that, that vid's garb. God i hate Duffel's personality and im not that dude who creeps on interviews and lifestyle shit but i have read and heard a few and he sounds like a complete tool, not much improvment from the racist comment. It sounds like he's regular, maybe that's why he says weird shit
MAXHAMS WARCO--If you want to see a bigger frontside flip than the boss (maybe not as long as tommy's new one, but def higher, among fakie heeling a giant 12, another edit that blows away most footy ive seen of this kid since then)
It seems like theres a window in ones life where they finally become am and are hungry to skate and most personalities just arent as much into it as they get in their mid 20's, and you can see how they dont progress much... they might skate as much but theyre not as hungry and open to learning new tricks...i.e. CORY KENNEDY, even though i love the guy, he was at a stand still for awhile in terms of progression (yes he was and prob is in the top 3 techest skaters out) but his Pretty Sweet part makes me so happy, that and his sasquatch part are all i need, but maybe he hasnt peeked)
I'm not too big on Malto, but i really think after watchin his PS part a few times it really grew on me (idea for next thread), which really surprises me because ive never been that into him

I agree with everything in this post (godamn what the fuck happened to Daniel Espinoza? He murked shit in that bangin) except for the Justin Brock part, his Carolina Love is killer but his best part is his Southern Comfort part. It is definitely a fucking classic for me.

I'm not too big on Malto, but i really think after watchin his PS part a few times it really grew on me (idea for next thread), which really surprises me because ive never been that into him
i love his PS part in every aspect (even with justice-new lands).....its actually my favorite part in pretty sweet!...but thats because i love malto and his skating!!! 8)
cory has the best part in PS...hands down!!!i dont give a fuck about s.o.t.y (anymore)...but its a shame that he's not soty 2012 !!!

Impossible choice if we're talking about the classics, but in the past recent years, this probably was the most jaw dropping. Mind bending skating and excellent editing.

I always say PJ Ladd in his WHL every time somebody asks me this question, and I entered this thread just to say that. I am pleasantly surprised to see that so many of you guys already said it.
Marc Johnson in Fully Flared is a close second for me with Daewon Song from Almost Round 3 a close third place.

Daniel Espinoza still skates for cliche and lakai. Absolutely nothing has changed at all. He just released a part in the newest Cliche video

If most of you saw it, youd be surprised, dude skated completely different spots back then, going balls to the wall, i grew up skating in NC with him and i thought for sure he'd become the next Cole or Reynolds (he's gettin there though, just seems like hes goin the old man tranny route moreso laltely/ CHeck out Brock in 2005 how hard this motherfucker goes to two perfect pixies songs..
james tupper who made this video.the editing is the best ive seen in a skate video, and it's local...(like pyramid country doesnt have shit (in terms of creativity and music selection originality/ (along with picking some weird indie electro like pyramid, he ALSO uses a plethora of old unheard of bands, unsigned bands, Tasteful classic rock. If any respectable skate business needed one of the most creative editors, leagues ahead of what i see in mainstream skating, that's the dude youll think of after watching th vid
Carolina Love - Justin Brock (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12X_GJz_D7U#)
BTW TRAPASSO"S PREVENT this TRAGEDY was his best part, it equates to the perfection of my no.1 pick jerrys BOS/ Incredible music selection that would only work with his skating, and some of the best variety and style ona board/ might be his last really good part.
Anybody leaving out marc and cory's pretty sweet are fucking fruit salads also

Justin Brock Southern Comfort (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B4Fq1S19uYo#)
my bad carolina love was released in 2004-05ish bc i remember both parts coming out in same year. the editing in carolina love has a really good flow and style to it, especially from that time period
WHoever said Espinoza has gone to shit is trash. He was just a ripper and you can tell he does other shit now than skating due to lack of progression, but he almost has every trick anyway. His Cliche part is a fucking great watch, but i wont lie that it kinda let me down, Kevin Bradley and Flo had some insanely amazing parts.
ALSO: KURT WINTER"S DIGITAL PART, jesus christ, that was over 7 years ago and he was sw back 360ing giant long ass sets, crazy style and bag of tricks. cheesy spoon song though
One of the best nollie flips down that giant brick manny pad gap, this dude shouldve kept at it, this part is just as good as some of the best today

Damn, it is PJ. It's a bit sad because the contenders, Marc Johnson, Mark Gonzales, Carroll, Howard, et al. are people who've made a shitload of awesome parts and contributed to skateboarding in a major way, whereas PJ has never done anything even remotely as good in his whole career. Really Sorry was good skating, but in comparison it was pretty much lame. But yeah, best single part out of all other context, I think that might be it.
-
PJ will top his WHL part with Plan B part. I think that most of the best parts from pro's careers are made when they hit 30. Marc Johnson Fully Flared, Daewon Song in Skate More, Reynolds from Stay Gold, Rodney Globe, Danny Way DC etc. Pj just turned 30, so many years to progress, didn't had a part for a decade, his plan b part got to be mindblowing. This is the year when it'll come out I hope, I mean they can't delayed it anymore, it's ridiculous, not even fully flared was delayed this much. I strongly believe that it will be released this year, it's confirmed that they already filmed tons of footy, so.......

I'm not so sure about that, a lot of skaters have fell off their peak, or never made better parts right around 20-25 ie wenning, trapasso, spanky, and a million more. i think it's more of a rare thing to see older dudes sticking around, making parts that are better than their old ones. Hawk, Hsu, Guy, Koston, Reynolds...
those dudes are a breed of their own, Where there are so many insane am parts that blow your fucking mind over the years, and then you never hear of the dude again because most normal people cant consistently commit their entire lives to anything in the long run

PJ has the best bangin' ever filmed at the berrics.

i agree his whl part was better than any "bangin" tho
That goes without saying. If there was ever a question in your head as to whether a bangin' was better than PJ's WHL part then clearly something's not right.

Anyone who says WHL isn't some of the most insane skateboarding must not even skate. People were NOT doing that kind of skating back then, that part is extremely technical while hauling ass and being able to do anything he wanted. Every single trick seemed just as hard as olling up a curb, and it was a huge slap in the face to skateboarding in general.

I'm glad someone posted that AVE-The DC video part. That is definitely his best part. Based on what you are saying right here, I'll take it you started skating in about 2005 or so...
PJ's tech skating was on top of the game at the time, but it didn't put others to shame or give them "a slap in the face." If you want to see guys skating fast and doing tech tricks nobody else was doing, while simultaneously bringing it to a new level from that time, watch photosynthesis- AVE, Wenning, Kalis- those dudes were all doing super tech shit at top speeds, and they were locking into grinds for longer periods of time
What made the PJ part so epic was that he was virtually unknown at the time and was coming up with a pro quality part, not that it blew everybody out of the water. This wasn't like Duffy in questionable (which was both an unknown kid, and something that made other "pros" look like pussies). Speaking of which, why the fuck isn't this part in this thread?
Plan B "The Questionable video" - Pat Duffy (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBeFQLnr6Lw#)

Yeah man, 30 foot long perfectly balanced backside nosegrinds and switch tricks down the LOVE gap can be done at a snail's pace...
He skated with a sort of slow motion style, but those wheels were rolling fast the whole time. Remember, I'm talking photosynthesis era Wenning, not today Wenning.

PJ's part(s) did have a lot of NBD's done properly and at speed, more than most parts* during that period. Factor in the solid tech tricks over stairs and gaps and the overall amount of footage and I'd reckon it's fair to say that he made the majority of pros look bad.
* I remember a short thing about Tim and Henry's Pack Of Lies in TWS around 2000 which said that it had the most NBD's during the early 90's. I sort of feel like PJ's was the Tim and Henry's of its era...
-
it's fair to say that he made the majority of pros look bad.
This is just a stupid statement in general. Its about as overly-simplistic of an argument as somebody can make, because it has no qualifiers. Did pros do amazing tricks that PJ didn't? Absolutely, PJ doesn't do one flip trick onto one rail in that video part, and at the time Appleyard was kickflip backtail bigspinning handrails, and Scott Kane and Eric Koston were kickflipping and 360 flipping into noseblunts down rails. If you want to say Bastien Kickflip frontboarding a 16 rail in Sorry or Boulala jumping down 26 stairs seemed lazy compared to PJ, go ahead, but I stand by my point- if you think that he made anybody look bad, or feel like they had to step their game up, you are fucking stupid. He kind of brought back tech skating, which was dying at the time, but people weren't looking at their copies of Sorry! and Yeah Right! and thinking "now that I saw PJ, this video is bad." NOBODY said that, making your very stupid point wrong.
It was shocking because the part was actually amazing, but what was surprising was that he was a nobody kid making a pro level part for a shop video. It wasn't because nobody had ever seen such amazing skating. Now stop talking dumb in an effort to create more of a legend around that part.

Im sure its come up , but Andrew Reynolds in Stay Gold
Video came out at a time when he had before stated that he might not be able to put out another super part . And its a video for his shoe sponsor ( usualy high profile ) and long time sponsor Emerica . Last part aswell
The part has everything you can want from a part . The music is good and it also has a feeling of something epic . It also has diffrent tempos and you can kinda feel it building up from slow to something happening
Trick wise it has everything aswell , theres a good amount of regular and switch , lots of tech skating with manuals , ledges , flips in and out of stuff . But also has huge gap / stair / handrail skating and theres even some miniramp in there . All done with Reynolds OCD search of perfection . Redoing tricks until he thought it was good enough . Reynolds also has really good style .
So you have this Age'ing skater who might not be able to make another super part . And when it drops its one of the best parts we have ever seen with amazing music , amazing tricks and trick selection , amazing editing and the feeling of this epic last part of the video and maybe last part he might ever have

A lot of things could go in here and be correct, but I am going with this:
HK Mind Field. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw1o-0YDlDQ#)
He worked his ass off for it and it shows. Everything about it is amazing and after it, he strolled off into the professional sunset(I count the six or so clips he filmed for Stay Gold as a bonus). Leaving on a high note, such class.

my vote is PJ's. GIb hit the nail on the head.dude came out of nowhere for a shop video..was fucking face melting at the time. that's all ppl talked about/watched when it came out..it was truly amazing ( i was born in 86)

Best of all time has to be about way more than tricks. Paradigm shift. So there can be a part from Pre Video Days, that blew the oldest heads' minds. Or Video Days, which is Gonz, but dont sleep on Guys impact. Also all of Questionable, Duffy for the rails, Rick, MC for the street progression. Daewon Skate More was pretty heavy. So what is this new post Video Days era called? And what is the new part that defines it.

And when it drops its one of the best parts we have ever seen with amazing music , amazing tricks and trick selection , amazing editing and the feeling of this epic last part of the video and maybe last part he might ever have
Fucking hell !
Andrew Reynolds - Stay Gold. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RTQJmvXtbI#)
His baker 3 part was way better IMO, and includes all the attributes you listed.
Mullens parts always open my eyes, instant classic on any skaters shelf

I'm glad someone posted that AVE-The DC video part. That is definitely his best part. Although his mindfield and his photo parts are both extremely good, in my opinion AVE is at his best when he's going 400mph and holding grinds/slides for miles. There wasn't too much of that in his photo or mindfield parts.
My list:
Ricky-EE3
Danny Garcia-Mosaic
AVE-DC video
PJ-WHL
Busenitz-Seeing Double
This for giving Danny Garcia a mention. That dude's Mosaic and Inhabitants parts are all style.
Also, this part is super new, and maybe no one agrees, but jesus this tops my current list:

wow, this dude rips...hope he is hooked up!
Garcia rules too

That Nik Stain part was amazing. Reminded me of Ricky Oyola.
-
no such thing as best part all time - cant be done
-
No one can be the judge of skating, but
dylan.
Ed - Welcome to hell
Heath - Sight Unseen
Dill - Mindfield
AVE - DC Video
Brad Cromer - Naughty
Strobeck Cinematographer
Workshop Cinematographer
Every montage in "Cherry"
Shawn Powers - Caviar
Ethan Fowler - Visual sound
AO - FF
Pappalardo - Mosaic
Cardiel - Sight Unseen
Could go on forever...
A solid list with all of my favoite skaters. I can't believe that you're the first person to mention Dylan so far. I think Dylan's best part is still to come. His transworld part was killer, Mindfield to me was a classic, his Gravis part was nuts, and his stuff in cherry was great, but he still has a lot ahead of him. I don't think he's working on anything currently, but I can only imagine what his next video part will be like. Cherry was good and all, but I feel like there was too much picnic tabel footage. We know how good he is at gaps and rails and I feel like we didn't get nearly enough of it.
I'm going to go ahead and add Allie's $lave part to that list.

That video whereMuska was skating in a skate park with his ghetto blaster and busted his ass is one of my favorite skate videos of all time.
Beyond that it's Carroll in "Questionable" without a doubt, for me.
This isn't the Muska video I was talking about but it's a pretty good dramatization of it:
Dancing with boom box on shoulders (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C6f57yXfwE#)
That was at the Vancover contest. I remember Wade Speyer told me first hand what happened. He was bagging supper hard.

Keenan Milton n Guy Mariano in Mouse .

TOP 4 AUSSY SKATERS....
nugget
kurt winter
dennis durrant
nick boserio
Burman?
Dollin? He's easy to hate on, but he came out of nowhere in a big way. He killed so many spots that had barely been touched.
But I think it has to be a list of -
Gonz in Video Days
Koston in Menikmati
Cardiel in Sight Unseen
PJ in PJWHL
Penny in Uno
Bastien in Sorry
They're the usual suspects, but skating would be different if you took these parts away. Penny in Uno gets my vote.

You guy's forget about this part?

The Brotha Lynch montage in the beginning of the Anti Hero cow video. Groundbreaking? No. But really the apotheosis of a certain kind of gnar skating. What is this, like 17 years old?

I just scanned the whole thread loosely, but I don't think i saw Henry's part part from Pack of Lies or Daewon's-Love Child part. Henry's pack of lies part had so many ridiculous NDB ledge/curb tricks and captures EMB. I remember hearing that the pack of lies part has the most nbd's of any street skating video part, not sure if its true (edit:said by Alan earlier in the thread).

For me it's Danny Renaud Mosaic.
Jerry Bag of Suck and Jake Johnson Mindfield get very honorable mentions.
This is good too:
