Never realized until today that I've been calling two different tricks by the same name, and I don't know how to differentiate between them now.
They're front 180 to switch crook approaching the rail backside (like a raised hurricane), and front 180 to switch crook approaching the rail frontside (like a raised sugarcane). I've always called both of them just front 180 switch crook. So which is what?

Hurricane one is a Howard grind i believe
and the alley oop one is a 180 switch crook

I've wondered this before as well. I usually just say 180 switch crook for the backside version and 180 switch crook "the hard way" for the frontside version. Its probably not accurate terminology, but it's how I've always distinguished between the two.

That's how I see it, but I think mags do post both under 180 switch crook. Its always kinda annoyed me. I like Howard grind. Skateboard names have become to technical and descriptive, they need more trick names like jolly mombo and wooly mammoth. It should be Howard grind one way, and dipsy-doodle grind the frontside way.

Fs 180 to back truck grind is fakie 5-0 if the rail started off behind you. 180 switch crook if the rail is in front. It's a whole other thing if you're talking about ledges. If you go from behind the ledge and into a switch crook it's just a 180 switch crook. If you come from in front of the ledge the hard way then it's still a 180 switch crooks. I just call them alley oop 180 switch crooks if I need to be specific.
