Post by: shark tits on April 18, 2014, 12:00:01 PM
jahmal williams' brother usedta live in my town and say hi to whoever was skating and tell us who his brother was.
mike graham's brother was a P & W train cop and busted our balls once for skating a little bank on RR property.
brad staba's mother flagged me down once in cleveland to brag on her son.
ryan gallant's brother bough true east briefly [that happened, right?] and usedta live upstairs from richard and does tattoos.
clyde singleton's dad chatted me up at a soup kitchen in jacksonville.
asides the time i met danny glover at a dennis kucinich rally this is as close to stardom as i've brushed next to. anyone else have similar stories?

Pete Eldridge's dad randomly came down to our skatepark one Saturday last year and told us who he was. It was almost 2nd hand celeb shock...if only Pete had been there!

Also I met Gonz' girlfriend in 2005, hot Russian model, but he was with her so that doesn't really count

Damn, that's sick.  I've always wanted to see Clark Hassler skate in person, he's one of my favorites.

Sat next to Stefan Janoskis mom on a flight to Portland. Looked through the few Thrashers I had on me for Stefan ads. A few weeks later she sent me Stefan and Tim O'connor autograph. That was a cool experience.

Ben Sanchez's son once flagged me and my friends down to tell us that he was Ben Sanchez's son

didn't believe him at first, but he had on him an OG Girl backpack from when the company first started. And for an 8 year old, he seemed to know a lot of stuff.

Referred to all the Chocolate OG's as his uncles (i.e. Uncle Keenan, Uncle Chico, etc.)

"you remind me of a young Tony Alva"
"I used to skate with Tony Alva"

My friend in high school was Leo Romero's Cousin
My Co-Worker used to date James Kelch's brother
This is not the same thing, but my older cousin supposedly grew up skating with Koston. I am not really sure if I believe it but it was kind of backed by my uncle, who said one time a bunch of famous skaters came over.
My cousin used to live with Anthony Mosley

I saw Antonio durao after gino gave him a high five when he switched heelflipped some double, I had to lick his.hand clean.

Brian Clarke was my waiter at this pretty nice restaurant on long island that I took my gf to, he serves up a mean filet mignon.

My friend that I skate with from time to time grew up skating with pops, he refers to him as simply 'anthony' whenever he tells stories about him.

Between yeah right and hot choco, you could run into gino almost anywhere on long island. I saw him everywhere from flushing to riverhead.

Pat rumney used to skate inline one skate park, he's actually my best friend and not todd yuricks.

I've only fabricated one of these stories.

I was skating a Bowl in Colorado and Mr. Tony Alva was there. My wife was sitting down on the bleachers, and in the middle of the session I looked over and Alva was macking my wife. Hahahahha. I didn't trip out cause he was so damn old it didn't matter. Later, I was talking to my wife, making fun of the entire situation, and she was like, "who was that random old guy trynna talk to me"?

Humor.

this girl i rode the bus with in middle school was kevin thatcher's (ex-Thrasher editor) niece.  She gave me a huge stack of stickers.

One day I was skating through an Albertson's parking lot when the bagger boy collecting carts gave me some Jeremy Klein stickers.  He said he was his cousin.  Years later I got the sticker tattooed on my back, then a couple years after that I ran into Mark McKee on Decatur street at Mardi Gras and showed it to him.  I dont' think he was impressed.

In Canada every cracked out dude, muscle bound chongo, fat old dad seems to have a story about how they used to skate with Colin McKay. Usually then their tone gets more serious when they talk about Casey or something. I work in a shop and have heard this story 3 times, I've almost laughed at the guys face one time, but he was huge.

Met Rachman Chungs drugged out sister wandering around downtown New Orleans after a rave

A couple from Alexandria came on the skateshop one day asking us if we ever heard of Andrew Reynolds, supposedly their niece was getting married to him, if they weren't lying then that would be Andrews ex wife.

Gnar'd. I love that this is your first post here. I don't have any good ones, but ran into Rhino's (staff Thrasher photographer) girlfriend walking her dog and saw us skating and told us who he was. It was kind of cool because I've been out filming a few times when he was shooting so she was stoked we knew him. My good bud works with Jamie Palmore's mom on an ambulance.

I grew up skating with Kalis' cousin. Nobody believed him for years until he got a huge box sent to him.

I used to sleep with Curtis Granderson's (Mets outfielder) ex-girlfriend. They were together when he played minor league in Toledo.

Kind of off topic, but Floyd Mayweather tried hooking up with my mom about 10 years ago in Vegas.

Growing up in the SFV (North LA) area there are too many but one of the cooler dudes is Torey Pudwill's dad (Mark if I recall correctly). When Tory was about 7 or 8 for a short time I put him on flow for a little company I was TM for called ShtAss. Always liked chatting it up with Mark at SkateLab and recall saying initially that "he (Torey) will go far, like 'Tony Hawk successful' (something non-skaters can understand) if he sticks with skating." He was just a super cool and mellow dude, not a Nyjah or Sheckler'esque 'skate-dad.'

Went to junior high with Jeron Wilson. One of the nicest kids ever. Borrowed his NES Double Dragon cartridge one time and the school year ended so I kept it all summer.

Used to run into Weston Correa a lot, we both did solo night sessions around Reseda all the time when we were like 15. Also a really nice kid.

There was the little Mexican kid named Paul with a pony-tail down to his ass who was on the grom squad for the shop I rode for. I remember watching his skate a flat at outside the shop and it made me feel like I sucked and realized I had no future in skating. Now he's in Mountain Dew commercials, has a pro shoe for Nike SB, and I think he skates for some little company called Plan B or something. Unfortunately never got to meet his dad, which would've been sick being he starred in classic films like A Million to Juan and Born in East LA.

In rehab I met this guy who thought he was really cool because he claimed his cousin was Tony Tave...

My friend's sister got asked by John Igei what times our high school's security guards were off duty so he could skate.

Ronson lambert noseslid a really long ledge in front of that same school for a DNA ad I think.

My friend's mom went up to big black at a DC demo and told him he belonged on the football field

This reminded me. 'That kid Paul' was a camper at the skate camp I worked at. He was a really nice kid, though I've heard conflicting stories from people who were campers with him. His dad dropped Paul off one year and was browbeating Paul's little brother for puking (car sickness) all over the inside of his Escalade.

Corey and Kevin Duffel's mom was the nurse for many years.
