As much as I'd like to see him get his shit together and succeed, I feel like he doesn't have it in him. His skills are prob super rusty after being in the clink, not to mention all those years he didn't skate before that.

As much of a negative nancy as I am and how doubtful I've been of him making a comeback, I hope he does well. His jail interview seemed really earnest. When you go without the thing you love because you're not allowed to it hits you deep that you would do whatever for that thing. When he was out derping around and acting a fool he had the option to skate, but while in prison he didn't have that option so it probably made him realize that skating is his ticket.

Dude has had sponsors since he was maybe 14 or 15 ? Supra , Deathwish , Spitfire and Thunder and some other I bet . Dude got free product and clothes . And Im sure if he asked nicely his sponsors would have helped him with moving to a diffrent city or country to stay out of problems and so on .
Im not going to say LA is the easiest place to grow up , but you have people from the poorest african countries and ex afghanistan fight / die for their right to go to school . You're right that his shenanigans helped launch his career, coupled with amazing talent, but a good recovery story could do just as much to keep him in the spotlight. Shit, most of my friends from early childhood got caught up in that life but are now re-born and trying to live decent lives; gunshot scars and missing eyes and all. It's possible, just gotta have the will. God knows he has the opportunities, the means, and the support to turn around. Even with a tatted up face and voice that sounds like people who've damaged their throat and larynx from too much freebasing.
With what he's done to himself skateboarding is about the only thing that'll offer him a chance for a new life if he's willing to take it.

You dont have any facts or proof that he has tried to move his family . And if he did it was a complete failure since his family prob lives where they always lived and Antwuan ended up in jail .
you dont need to move your entire family , plenty people move somewhere ells and either just stay in touch with the family and visit . And some just send money back home . Ive known plenty of immigrants who live somewhere good where they make money and stay out of problems / dont get killed . They work hard and often go to school at the same time to send money home to their family and in some cases try to move their family over . And this is working shit jobs , not knowing the language and working really hard .
If some 18 year old can move half across the world , escaping war , no job , no future . Work 2 dishwashing jobs and go to school to learn the language , while being away from his family and sending money back home to make sure they are getting fed and trying to save up money to escape the country , A pro skater that gets pretty much everything for free and gets paid to go traveling and to be sponsored
he should be able to stay out of jail , no matter what gang his brother is in or where his family lives . He didnt go to jail for being in a gun fight with gangs trying to attack his familys home , he went to jail for beating up some middle aged white dude infront of his kids

Not at all. I think it would be super rad to see Antwuan make a huge comeback. His skill and consistency can take him far. I would really enjoy seeing him throw a wrench into pop-culture skateboarding like Street League, dude has the ability to fuck shit up and make a lot of money, and it's tragic seeing an opportunity to improve your family's station in life just go to waste.
If you wanna get offended or kook me for making a *completely facetious* comment because it jokingly mentions hypocrisy from a supposedly controversial perspective then that's your deal man. I'll call out the same shit when I see WP cunts using someone's anti-white sentiment to justify their own bigotry against a whole group. One huge difference being that I don't really think Antwuan has hate in his heart. I never met him formally but in a lot of the 2010 PHX Am footage from his Epicly Later'd we were right there with that crew, a few inches out of camera view, and he was being super nice and cool with everyone around. Seems like a stand-up dude at the core, but who has serious demons that manifest themselves in self-destructive ways, perpetuated by a substance abuse problem. It's a genuinely sad thing to see and it's fucked how common it is. I'm sure most of us have first hand experience with this stuff, and for every one that gets past it another 10 are lost forever.

You're right that his shenanigans helped launch his career, coupled with amazing talent, but a good recovery story could do just as much to keep him in the spotlight. Shit, most of my friends from early childhood got caught up in that life but are now re-born and trying to live decent lives; gunshot scars and missing eyes and all. It's possible, just gotta have the will. God knows he has the opportunities, the means, and the support to turn around. Andy still isn't drinking, and yeah, Antihero didn't just welcome him back with open arms, he definitely has been out getting coverage and skating a ton, and that is why they put him on. Maybe its not the Guy level, but going from a constant recidivism case junkie to sobering up, focusing on skating and actually doing stuff with his life. Vice cooking shows may be something that isn't a "pro skater comeback" type move, but its a lot more honest than ripping off drug stores for money to get his next hit. On a personal level, he's pretty much come back from the grave. Hopefully Antwuan can do the same.
Also, on the "black power" confusion. There is a very real, concrete reason that "black power" isn't the same as "white power." The term "black power" originated with 1960's civil rights activist Stokely Carmichael in his famous "black power speech" that he gave after being arrested for something like the 40th time for non-violent civil disobedience. His claim was that basic civil rights laws passed by a government in which black people had no representation that needed to be fought for using their blood and bodies was an untenable path. His basic conclusion was that in order for black people to have a truly equal place in American society, they needed to fightnot just for black civil rights, but for black representation in the political power structure- or "black power." It continued to evolve, having a larger meaning that African American people should strive for and have more power- politically, economically, and socially, in a society in which they have not had any true power historically and most still continue to struggle within. There is no equivalence with white people. There was never a time in American society when white people were entirely shut out of the political, economic, or social hierarchies. That's why it is disturbing when people say "white power." Its a reaction to the notion of "black power" and basically says "fuck an equal place at the table, white people should remain in a place of power over others" which is horrible. That's why "white power" is racist, but "black power" really isn't. And yes, I'm sure it can be bastardized, and that if there are black nationalists out there calling for a white genocide, they probably say "black power" too, but that's not really what it means to most people who use the term.

hah i know its not politically correct to be talking about stereotypes and all that, but they exist because theres some truth to them. between videos and what i see in the real world ive caught a lot of black dudes being way more comfortable with heelflips than kickflips. i have white friends that are heelflip prone too, but the numbers always seem to sway in favor of the black dude heelflip stereotype. i cant actually kickflip, i tried for a long time and couldnt really get the hang of it. heelflipping was second nature though.

I was too young to know anything about skating in the early 90's but what was the deal with Ternasky? i have yet to get a direct answer as to what exactly he did or told riders to do to perform i guess the way they did. And its been partially explained in a couple of documentaries but the answer always seems too vaugue to get what they mean.

Pretty sure certain riders didn't like Ternasky because he would play on their competitiveness which would work for guys like Danny and Colin, but didn't vibe with how other riders saw skateboarding (Carroll and Howard). This and the supposed constant threatening to retire people if they didn't film well for virtual reality is what were the supposed contributors (along with the alleged wheel invoices) that got those guys to quit world and start their own thing. They didn't want to have super team vibe that plan b was promoting, they'd rather just have a team of them and their homies (which probably produced a sicker team than the original plan b team to be honest).
