Never in a million years would I have thought TWS of all magazines would be the publication that championed all these smaller brands and their riders (every issue lately seems to make an effort to shine a hefty spotlight  on the more *underground* sector of skating)

At this point, Thrasher and The Skateboard Mag are both predictable in terms of who they're gonna champion giving coverage to (Thrasher has a soft spot for DLX, and Skateboard Mag tends to pander to Girl/Choc and basically all of SoCal)

Static winning video of the year is pretty fucking rad.

Aw isnt it cute tws trying to fit in with the polar love.  How did madars part get nominated? Or even jake Johnson In static 4 when that was supposed to be originally a thrasher mag part let alone it premiered there

Chris Joslin should have won video of the year. I love Cherry as a whole but would have never thought it was a video with parts in it. It's like Dylan should have give the award to Alex too.

And Anti Hero should have won video or team of the year. There was something really epic about releasing a video unknown to everyone and totally killing it. Oddly though I still haven't seen the new Static vids. I guess I should go and pick that up.

Seriously how many tricks did Dylan have in Cherry "part"?

Would have to be the least by any winner of this award, surely.

Not including his opening line, "skateboards are really hot to me" conversation, and Alex's footy, his part was two minutes long, and then he had thirty seconds worth of footage in the ending montage. Quality > Quantity.

All of these choices are pretty spot on, which is pretty unexpected coming from TWS.  Is this all the awards?  Don't they usually have "Street Skater of the Year" and "Tranny Skater of the Year" too?

All of these choices are pretty spot on, which is pretty unexpected coming from TWS.  Is this all the awards?  Don't they usually have "Street Skater of the Year" and "Tranny Skater of the Year" too?

ya, there used to be a couple more categories.

Also, i coulda swore there was supposed to be a "Best Indie Video" category this year. IC2 and Paych were nominated....

ahaha. Well, the award was voted on by readers. So IC2 was pretty much a shoe-in given their influence on the impressionable young TWS readers of Southern California.

I voted for Paych.

that part was definitely mostly dylan. alex is the guest skater in it for sure and even then you can just add the rest of his tricks from the other parts of the video. if anything they shouldve given part to jake and video to cherry.

IC2 was like the virtual reality to cherry. its just the cherry on top (no pun intended). not sure it deserved it but whatevs. people are stupid.

i think i voted for static or something. its a secret shouldve been on that independent video list.

i feel it won because a. They had a article already published in tws on the making of the video. b. tws staff photographers shot all the photos and skated with them all the time. c. its odd future and affiliates, tws is trying to capitalize like thrasher did.  d. fucking awesome ams for the most part.

Was Dylan's part in Cherry REALLY last years best part that has nothing to do w/ Thrasher...? Assuming Transworld wouldn't nominate any parts that they put out. Maybe I'm forgetting some tricks or something, but that part really didn't stand out that much.

I really liked his Cherry footage. It's probably the video part I've rewatched most over the course of the year, or at least it's up there. I can see how it won.

He also had that Huf part, which I'm sure a lot of people confused with Cherry. Skating-wise, everything he released this year was top notch.
