Its still a no comply but if I had to guess I would assume he thought that he did it from one side to the other without touching the table.

What am I missing here? How is that not a no comply? When you do it on flat, up a curb, over a parking block it's a no comply—albeit a 360 no comply.

It looks like he pops into a (one-foot) b/s 180 first, then plants his foot on the table, and then finishes the 360 instead of planting his foot onto the table and while popping

In a no comply you use your front foot to push off the ground and get yourself into the air. Here he pops a back 360 normally and plants his foot after he's already well off the ground. I'd call it a back 360 foot plant

So I am probably wrong but always thought it was:

No comply- off a curb
Step hop - off your leg
Ballerina - fs or bs 180 or 360 or shuv

I think after the 90s everything got called a no comply but pretty sure Ray Barbee and others had different names for them all.
I know the rewind one was called  a 43.
That being said the trick in questions seems more like a 360 foot plant than a no comply but semantics are a pain in the ass sometimes.

You can try to get all technical and shit about it but just judging by the timing of it and how it looks it's a no comply bs 360 on a picnic table. scooped with pressure and everything.  Pretty cool.

the ol 43 skadoo.  anyone care to remind what the significance of the number 43 is in skateboarding? I remember there being an article in the skateboard mag around 07' or 08' that explained it having to do with the numbers relation to the alphabet and some sort of abbreviation like antihero has with 18

But isn't a footplant where you plant your back foot on the object, not your front? Am I conflating it with a fastplant?

Fastplant is back foot. Footplant is front foot.  And when you watch it in slow mo, there is no way you can say this is a no comply.  When he pops, his front foot is still on the board, not on the table.  It looks almost like he does one if those pressure one foot b/s 360 that Ishod and that McLung dude have been doing, but he puts his front foot on the table.  Just thing about the physics of a no comply b/s 360. Do you think you can plant your foot on a picnic table and still have the right leverage to get enough pop to pull your board over the whole table?  There is no way.

where he puts his foot down is way too high up for this to be considered a no-comply. He's getting air well before he puts a foot down.
Title: Re: Spencer Hamilton no-complys a picknick table.
Post by: j....soy..... on January 10, 2015, 12:13:17 AM
1) no comply was originally straight over a parking block with the wheel bump....it was in a trick tip in thrasher....It was described as a no handed boneless......
2) stephop is the 180 no curb version.  I asked Ray about the 43 and he said that's not what he called it....I'm going with whatever he says....

To me now though...it's all just no comply....it's a backside 360 no comply.....

Foot plant is grabbing board and foot off....ie fastplant, bean plant, boneless, sweeper etc.....

Can't believe you gif'd the no comply and not the jerk off....this is slap right?

great to have such a young skater out there not afraid to stand up for what he believes in though. here's hoping he gets on the animal rights trip too and starts pushing supra to do more vegan models/ colourways.

IMO, the trick Spencer does, does start with the front foot. You can no comply a bench just like you can a parking block, but you have to lift your front foot higher to get it on the bench. As far as I'm concerned that's the only difference between this and a flatground/curb no comply.

LOL as opposed to non-vegans yeah? nobody said being vegan was the be all/ end all fix it for everything and it certainly is a lifelong process (i.e. my wife only recently found out what carmine is). having said that though, vegans are still doing more for the planet/ animals than people on the internet who feel it is their duty to sit around and nitpick everything vegans do

as opposed to normal human beings yeah? nobody said being vegan was the be all/ end all fix it for everything and it certainly is a lifelong process (i.e. my wife only recently found out what carmine is). having said that though, vegans are still doing more for the planet/ animals than people on the internet who feel it is their duty to sit around and nitpick everything vegans do
Thats also true, and im vegan also, this also applies to me but its funny when people build their whole identity around it then get mad all the time their so defensive because they only define themself by a single lifestyle choice. But yea go vegan! seriously its great

AND if you no comply over a barrier your foot doesnt touch the ground

I'd say no.  That's like saying someone ollied a barrier when they really wallied it.  For a proper no comply over a barrier, refer to Jake's Static 4 part.  No part of him touches the actual obstacle.

I fucking hate all of you people.

Henceforth, Spencer is doing a bonerspin.  A simple bonerspin.

His foot is planted on the table after popping his board over the table without touching anything but the board.  This can't be that complicated.

Know what's better and healthier than being vegan?

A: not being a fucking pussy and knowing how to forage wild plants and fungi, catching your own salmon, and killing your own wild game. Not killing animals isn't the problem, it's healthy maintenance of ecosystems and managing wild populations while not supporting unethical slaughter practices.

It's more than a lifestyle choice, but a moral position - pain is wrong, using animal products causes pain, so using animal products is wrong - and the moral behavior that follows from that position.

And what's bad about defining yourself according to a moral position?  Is identity from more than one choice/position better than identity from many choices/positions?

He didn't ollie? Are you looking at the same clip as everyone else? Make a still of his foot on the ground or picnic table pre take-off and then maybe someone will listen.
Title: Re: Spencer Hamilton no-complys a picknick table.
Post by: oyolar on January 13, 2015, 09:20:01 PM
Yeah, a no comply isn't "your foot must touch the ground" (although it does in a lot of cases).  It's you take your front foot off while popping so there isn't an actual ollie.  That is why Ishod's no comply wallie is a no comply wallie and Spencer Hamilton's b/s 360 footplant is a b/s 360 footplant.

Saying that because your front foot comes off of your board, it must be a no comply is like saying that because your board flipped, a heelflip and kickflip are the same thing.
Title: Re: Spencer Hamilton no-complys a picknick table.
Post by: era on January 13, 2015, 09:56:12 PM
When I think of legitimate no complies I think of propulsion upwards with the front foot and leveling off with the back knee.  By my definition backside 180 no complies aren't really no complies, but Spencer's definitely was not a no comply.  I would love to see an example of a backside one done with pop on flat.  Mike Rusczyk comes to mind when thinking of really popped frontside ones.

i don't know about bs no complies not being popped. it seems like all bs 360 no complies get pretty far into the air. i don't know, maybe you're able to scoop it enough w/o popping by doing like a 360 shuvit motion? I don't know my bs no complies to well though, mine I do off the bolts so it's more of a slide than a scoop and they don't leave the ground. i don't even know if that's considered bs 180 no comply.

I agree with the bs 360 footplant but it doesn't even matter, I can't believe this thread is 4 pages of stubborn people arguing about this shit. The new bankride argument  ::). If you wanna go with the no comply then it would be a 360 no comply across a picknick table. Here's a no comply over a picnic table:
