I like how he gave props to all the new people skating at Philly and wasn't a hater. Stevie seemed in his zone in this interview.

Probably calling out his ghetto card with him saying all that slang he says. Stevie definitely felt like he was comfortable just saying whatever.

And that Menace call out at the end got me really wondering. It definitely isn't Javi or Fabien or Lee Smith. Pupecki? They seem like they wouldn't mesh right.

It's like how he said Korn was his favourite rock band in his Free Lunch interview. I mean Austyn Gillette ≠ Korn, but it's the same yellow submarine.

And that Menace call out at the end got me really wondering. It definitely isn't Javi or Fabien or Lee Smith. Pupecki? They seem like they wouldn't mesh right.

Pupecki praised Stevie in the Menace EL series, so maybe it's not him. Suriel or Valdez? Is he talking about MNC now, or Menace earlier? I doubt this is via Instagram because it would've been posted on Slap already. Whoever it is, I hope it gets squashed.

RBK Skate shoes were underrated.

Stevie is cool as fuck in real life. Really nice and friendly. He'll talk to anyone and treats even the most annoying fuckboy kids with respect. I've never seen any ego show on that dude.

If you have to continuously talk about your "legacy" and how "ahead of the game" you were then something is not quite right.

Really wish they followed up on Stevie's Kayo answers. Basically said that he's left Kayo in good hands. Which can't be true considering everything happening lately. They could have even referred to Spencer Hamilton's episode from a few weeks back.

And, Asphalt Yacht Club is so damn lame and regular. No, it has nothing to do with culture or "keeping it real."

"AYC is about seeing your lane and believing that you can make it happen no matter where you come from. #StreetsToTheYacht"

- AYC founder, Stevie Williams

Get your $35 t-shirt and $69.50 hoodie and go all the way to the top! Yea, Steven.

And, who the fuck is wearing $69.50 AYC sweatpants? Jaws? Riley? Trendsetters!

For what it's worth, Cephas has always been "known" for his slang and way of talking. I remember reading an interview with the guy like 11 years ago conducted via MSN that was almost complete gibberish slang and nearly indecipherable.

You say you're from Toronto, then call Cephas (who anyone that skates in toronto knows is black) a wigger? No one in this city has your back, so stop acting like you're a part of the scene, you're a lurker and a troll.

Also, they're both almost 30, so that whole 'skate career taking off' thing would've made sense 10 years ago... You don't like it, don't listen. Pretty simple shit

I am most certainly not Canadian and it's pretty obvious both these dudes are only screwing around with that stuff. Not taking your self too seriously goes a long long way in the podcast game and frankly I get a chuckle out of every dorky, self-aware "heh heh".

Fuck you pal, this city is filled with great people. Sure there are cunts here but you get cunts everywhere you go.

Think about this message board as an example, most people on here are level headed good people, but then you get some person cunts like yourself.

Pretty sure I know who Tracer is (rawbertson?) .  He's not from Toronto he's from a town nearby.  He sometimes would show his face in the city but he wouldn't talk to anyone.  He embarrassed himself a little too much on an old Toronto message board and I think he lacked the social skills to talk to anyone in person (the way he does online).  Generally rejects like that consider a city full of "peices of shit" because they never fit in.  The wigger part? I can't explain that coming from a guy who tried to be a white rapper.  As for The Bunt, those guys are just having fun.

I love their slang. The way Cephas talks is just funny to me.
They're great hosts, they hold a good vibe. And while I do enjoy the Tim o Connor show, he's the one who becomes unlistenable at times to me; constantly interrupting everyone when they start to tell a story..

Yeah but I think it's just because Nick Tucker is boring as shit. It was basically 30 minutes of him thanking god and positive vibes and shit. Still enjoyed it though because Cephas and Donovan are great hosts. They could interview fucking Ronson Lambert for 4 hours and I would listen to the whole fuckin thing because they're funny as fuck hosts.

Yeah I completely agree that the weakness of the episode had nothing to do with Cephas or Donovan and everything to do with Nick Tucker. They're great hosts and hilarious. That first exaggerated "HEH HEH" in the beginning of this one, and then you can just hear Donovan laughing at him, haha

Beebs seems super cool. Like a good guy to have in your corner. And him not knowing how to do double flips and late flips is so fitting for his personality and skating. Like he only does solid core tricks and no goofy shit.

Dishka, it'd be rad to get some of the Dime dudes on who seem to have faded out. Like Hugo, Reidel would be a super crazy episode.

Another one Id LOVE to see would be Brandon Delbianco, hear his story of blowing up and being next on the Element list of AMs to being kicked to the curb and giving up. Always wanted to know the backend to that (I know his Kingshit interview had a lot to do with it).

I think I prefered a lot of the local content to the big pros, with the locals it seemed more dialed in and people were more willing to talk shit/ play along with rapid fire and all that stuff. That being said there were some of the pros that I really enjoyed, just seemed like it was harder to get good pod out of Nick Tucker than Bobby you know?

^^^I agree. I like hearing ex-pros that don't have a skate career so they can pretty say whatever they want. Alex Chalmers would be rad to hear about since he sort of just disappeared.

Was the Kingshit interview where he talked about how awesome him and his buddy was who would double team girls and all that? Whatever interview that was had me cringing the whole time.

Surfshops. I always liked Apples Globe shoes.  8)

Actually Mark Appleyard skating on a bunch off Globe videos is pretty awesome to watch.

Mark Appleyard's "The Vagrant" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMSmEdjuIuU#)

Mark Appleyard Globe Rewire Ad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmC1p9SIEa0&t=7s#)

Dude, that song is amazing.

That other shoe that was around the time hes of Flip was also a good shoe. I liked the green ones with the One Love detail; that shoes and a hawaiian shirt. Pretty awesome.

The Mahalo is a good one. Comfy and theres a bunch of models, like the Mahalo runner here:

Mark Appleyard | Mahalo SG with Globe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lITSaHUZ2A#)

To be honest I dont mind Mark Appleyards shoes out on the market even in the year 2040. The guy knows whats good.   8)

His Mom is cool as fuck she lives in the Cayman islands and visits the Pearl frequently. Had a chance to talk with her Mark visits the islands sometimes, if he bought her a house there serious life hammer property is cripplingly expensive. Appleyard claims he hasn't won contests in this interview but he did in fact win the under 16 in a thing I organised at Slot Machine in Grimsby back in 97 or so.
[close]
i've heard some crazy rumours about why that place closed down and normally i'd question it but niagara region is a weird fucking place. do you know anything about why it closed down?
i am pretty sure they were running hard drugs out of there, I can't be specific. I do remember the owner having blonde dreads. It was a pretty sweet park, used to see mark causally destroy it .
I got second  place  appleyard in two contest growing up, which I considered a huge win, the gap between him and the rest of us was obviously unreal.
seeing him skate as a kid really put skateboarding into perspective for me.

The owner's name was Zack and he did have blonde dreads. He lived in this huge pool house on his wife's parent's property which was on the lake in Grimsby. The rumour I heard was the Zack and his wife got charged with kidnapping and assault after putting someone in the trunk of the car and stabbing him. Zack would often slip out the skatepark around the same time two huge men would come in asking for him. A couple of years after the park shut down I saw him doing road clean up in a jump suit. We made eye contact but didn't speak. His blonde dreads were gone by that point. I remember being pretty bummed on him for keeping a bunch of product that a sponsor for that contest sent up to us late after I'd done all of the leg work to set up the event. FUCK YOU, ZACK!

Funny how Jason Lee was so sensitive, if you dish it out you should be prepared to deal with it. And I remember seeing that Crailtap clip! Great interview. Wish they asked him what trick "The Devil Worshipper" is, been wondering about that since I read it in Transworld.

I remember when stereo first came back, I bought that firs tour(way out east?) video on dvd and it was so fucking bad I was literally upset with Jason lee, he showed a slow mo of himself doing a washed up 360 flip to fakie on a ditch bank 3x, it made me angry and I hoped the company would go under.

Keegan told me he didn't have a great time with Stereo either......

I don't care who you are....you have to get down with other skaters...you never really see that with him...he always seems like he has more important shit to do....

Good episode....not sure if I'd kick Scotty at this point.....

Sad to hear Zack was stripped of his dreads....

When is Mitch going to have his own episode?

Gailea is super cool. Osiris came to the shop I used to work at and he was super nice and down to just talk. Gave me a pair of the Osiris Chinos(jerrys pro model at the time of this tour) I took the team to a bunch of spots. Clint Petersons trick at one of the spots was a sequence in the skateboarder mag covering the tour. Thatnwas a cool time. Everyone was chill. Shurikens 360 flips in person are breathtaking.

Randy or Dennis?  I'm a bit more partial to Randy, with the whole National Lampoons Vacation movies, and him losing his shit saying that Hollywood was trying to assassinate him, so he fled to Canada as a "refugee" only to be arrested when he tried to get back in the US through Vermont.

He'd fit Primitive perfectly.

Last two episodes have been weak, looked forward to 'em because I grew up on Sorry and Really Sorry and Gilbert is one of my favorites as well, but they definitely kept it a little too safe.

The Bunters on the other hand, I love that they're speaking their mind. Regardless of if you share the same sentiments, there needs to be more "locker room talk" in skateboarding media.

I forgot to skip the first 10 minutes like usual and got caught up in them beating off about the transworld video. Pretty harsh on the skaters considering they probably had no input into the editing. Maybe next week they can talk shit about takahiro morita or anyone else that doesn't switch tre flip stair sets.....

So wait, you aren't allowed to make fun of the Magenta aesthetic? The dude's ender was a double powerslide to switch heel on flat. These guys aren't stair counters, and they mostly made fun of the editing and filming outside of Leo Valls.

Not as much shit talking as I hoped for, but still quite enjoyable. Chima seems like a rad dude. I will say, I hate Nyjah as much as the next dude, but casually throwing around rape allegations is kinda wack. If there's a video of it, I'd sure hope people would have somehow turned that in, which makes it pretty unbelievable to me. It's probably a video of him and David Loy touching wieners together or something.

Yea, cause being a man and laughing off rape is the cool thing to do.

The difference with Chase is the words came out of his mouth on video. With Nyjah, they're rumors.

There was a slap page on the Nyjah stuff a while back, don't think the allegations were rape as is forcing a girl to have sex with them, it was statutory rape. Still very serious and fucked up allegations, but different than what people have been talking about. I think it was dealt with out of court (if any of the stuff on previous Slap thread was correct, which it could all be total fiction).

It's not like he was calling it out as if he's guilty, he said he had heard it from multiple people... So because he mentioned a story about someone that he was asked about it's "laughing off rape"? Cool your jets.

Maybe interviws with questions like "so who was your first sponsor" bla bla bla are more your style? And Chima was spot on regarding Numbers, that shit is the worst.

I thought he was of Volcom for the head to toe Vans thing?

Apparently you don't read or comprehend information too well, becasue if you actually read my initial post, I said I wish there had been even more shit talking, so no, I don't want "sponsor" questions.

And, once again, the fact that they're discussing a rumor about rape is lame in my opinion. Their responses to the rape seemed as if they totally bought into it if you listened to the podcast.

I don't why I keep responding to these, but there's a big difference (in my opinion) between making fun of someone for a hideous neck tat, which is an actual fact that indeed, he does have that atrocity permanently inked on his neck, and saying someone raped someone, which is about someone's character as a human, when it's only a rumor. I think there's a line that can be crossed in good fun shit talking. This isn't 'Nam, there are rules.

Libel and defamation get murky pretty quickly. Nyjah is technically a public figure, making it even trickier. He'd have to prove actual malice -- reckless disregard for the truth.

while Nike can likely solve any legal issue etc., the potential for these (unfounded) rumors gaining traction is something that it can't really control, and would be hugely damaging.

Yeah, other sports have sketchier adult men, but these adult men have much stricter boundaries imposed on them than those imposed on pro skateboards

Nike makes billions of their athletes, and they don't try to "solve legal issues".  you do dumb shit, you're contract is voided and you go on your way and they don't spend a dime on legal fees.  maybe you remember a popular golfer by the name of Tiger Woods, who got exposed as a womanizer and lover of escorts, and was a considered a "sex addict".  they dropped him on the spot and he was HANDS DOWN the #1 athlete that was on Nike.  Like, as big if not BIGGER than Michael Jordan.  Trust me, Nyjah ain't shit to Nike but another cog in the machine to make money.

Prepared? You think skateboarding is the only sport Nike's involved with that has adult men doing sketchy things. ::) If you have Nike's money, influence and lawyers, there's not many problems that can't be solved.

while Nike can likely solve any legal issue etc., the potential for these (unfounded) rumors gaining traction is something that it can't really control, and would be hugely damaging.

Tiger never got dropped by Nike though... they kept by his side during his "Sex Scandal" he's still sponsored by Nike Golf,

No skateboarder is in Tiger Woods territory in regards to importance to Nike, he is arguably their most important athlete outside of Jordan and Lebron. If Nyjah rumors like this become widespread they will do one of two things. First, is they just buy him out, pay the rest of his contract but stop promoting him in any way. The second, is they fire him with cause due to some offsetting morality language in their contract. Nyjah makes big money compared to skaters, but his deal is chump change for Nike, whereas Tiger they had a significant invested in. He also wasn't accused of anything illegal, just stuff that was immoral.

As for people talking about libel and slander. The onus, in that case, is always on the plaintiff to prove it didn't happen. Do you really think Nyjah wants to bring more attention to his lifestyle and antics? I'm sure he would just love the amount of written affidavits about the debauchery and drugs at his party. In this case, it's better just to let shit simmer more low key than bringing out all the other shit in open court. This is the main reason tear sheet gossip pages rarely get sued.

^^^^^^Lance Armstrong too. I think Nike sued him as well. He had an interview on Stern couple of days back. Pretty interesting listen.

I've been skipping a lot of his interviews recently but that one was really interesting.  i think he said he settled out of court with nike.  its USPS thats suing him like crazy.   it was really interesting to listen about all the performance enhancers and how widespread it became... i think skateboarding is going to have to come to terms with it pretty soon

Yeah....you can tell his whole ordeal kind of pissed him off even though it was all his fault. I am sure the backlash was way bigger than he imagined. Even that Oprah thing didn't go according to plan.

Cepha came in hot, but unfortunately landed bolts on his back.  Still pretty funny seeing it and he had fun with it.  Elijah was pretty good, it started a little shaky, I think the show being live may have had something to do with that.  A few beers later and it was crackin.  Of course they talked about the Birdhouse/Chocolate beef and he called out Clint Walker, it pretty good.  Called out Nike.  Overall it was pretty entertaining, especially live.

Watched it as well, remember someone suggesting that Tiago should've won SOTY and Berle responded, "Maybe in the 90s." He gave props to Tiago though. He really supports his teammates getting SOTY.

He also said the worst trick is hardflips, which was surprising.

Cephas also mentioned his distaste of popping out of 50-50s early, which is a valid claim.

There's other funny stuff, I won't reveal the whole podcast.

agreed, anyone talking shit about all the trash talk in skating lately is such a puss. the amount of bland overly nice skaters is getting to be too much. just because you talk shit and actually voice your opinion doesn't mean you can't be a nice person. that fake sean malto skate beef is even worse then the overly nice positive shit too. you know all these skaters are talking shit behind closed doors, props to the bunt for letting their opinions be known.

I just remember his interview with the Illusion where he sounded like he was about to break into tears because Guy didn't get SOTY the year Pretty Sweet came out.  Seriously, as corny as these guys can sound I love their podcast just for the fact that they don't hold back with their opinions/trash talk.

speculation: in the elijah episode there's an email that accuses them on not going as hard on the bigger name pros and that maybe its vans who said to talk less shit. Their response is something along the lines of "couldn't be farther from the truth"... also when they do the rapid fire and ask elijah whats the worst company he hesitates and they have to coach him a little bit saying "c'mon you wrote it down" before he actually says "fuck nike" or whatever... maybe vans wants people to talk shit and wanted elijah to be like "fuck nike". idk. great episode regardless.

And as they said in further response to letter; people still involved in industry will be less likely to talk shit, than the ones already outside skating. Good example is P. Rod, I bet his BUNT interview was well coordinated with his sponsors marketing team, maybe even questions reviewed before giving permit to interview...

Thought it was sort of funny how he calls out Nike after saying Cory Kennedy is his favorite teammate and has a shoe from them. Great interview, he was honest and upfront about most things. It was a bit different this time, usually, with established pros they sort of go through their history and where they started. For Elijah they basically went right from him getting sponsored by Foundation to him being turned pro after Pretty Sweet.

As for Clint Walker, he's pretty over the top and ridiculous, but I get why the Birdhouse guys take it so seriously, the guys on Toy Machine and Chocolate are basically the haves of the skateboard community with shoe deals and even pro-shoes on big companies, and Birdhouse guys are basically the have-nots with only Raybourn having a legit shoe deal. I'm sure Jaws makes good money off stuff. But, Clint, Clive and Mike Davis probably have to grind on the side, and splitting that 50k however they do it is probably a big deal.

Chima also went pretty hard in his interview. The guest I'd love to see them get is Dane Burman, he gives no fucks even when he isn't prompted in an interview.

Wasn't there a recent interview with Clint recently where he was talking about being back home and working a regular job to make ends meet? I know Nick Merlino is an Uber driver...I'm sure they aren't alone though. Even though a big biz shoe co can suck, it's obvious why it's a desirable sponsor (other than a beverage or clothing sponsor)

I like the podcast even though at times the host's lingo can get annoying .The one host constantly calling Appleyard Applebutters is usually the most cringe. But overall the content is good. gives credit where pine is due and also shouts out demall taylor. demall was one of the guys you'd see in financial every sunday in mid-late 90s boston. he wasn't stuck up either like lots of other people.
he kinda wasn't that advanced but one day i was ollieing a fire hydrant and he halfcab heeled it. i just feel like he was relatable on a ledge or whatever vs all the pros.
one time this dude broke into true east and demall caught him in boston and socked him up for devoe. i hope he still skates but heard he was a bouncer or something.

Oh I already tune into every single one. This podcast is great. Having no filter, makes it awesome. Ryans a fucking G. I know most people don't like my skating and even if they do, they'd never admit it publicly. For him to do that is one of the most humble things a pro skater could do. Matter of fact I DMed him after I heard that and he had nothing but nice things to say back. I was already a fan of this dude but after hearing him in this interview (besides him mentioning me) I like him even more. I like how right after the comment about me, he goes into the trends in skateboarding that he hates which are basically all the things I hate as well. Haha.

Oh I already tune into every single one. This podcast is great. Having no filter, makes it awesome. Ryans a fucking G. I know most people don't like my skating and even if they do, they'd never admit it publicly. For him to do that is one of the most humble things a pro skater could do. are you ever going to hang it up? Hey I heard Braille and Pizza have started new blogs, you should head over there. Better yet I heard DrewsDays started a new message board, its a perfect fit for you, a match made in heaven. Take care of yourself Tracer, this is only bye for now, see you at dunbat.

One of my favourites so far! I'm surprised Ed didn't offer JLAY boards at least? (without the pay) Seems odd to me after Ed's Epicly Later'd he was so bummed on kicking Chris Senn completely off (without offering him boards). Granted that was years before, but someone who's been around as long as Ed must have known he was working on such a major project for years (Vans vid)

Coulda been like he said, his issues with Leo, maybe Leo gave Ed the "him or me" and he chose me(him)

plus if it came to scrappin Leo would get mopped all around the shop, so maybe he felt "threatened"

He could keep Senn or keep the jump off a building roster....which I like even more than the welcome to hell....he chose to keep the team together.....then they all quit....

Even after listening I still don't think that's the whole truth in regards to what happened with Vans and Toy.

So Jlay rides for vans his ENTIRE career.  Pro shoe, pro apparel line, colorways, etc...had his fair share of ads, photos, online content over the years, has a FULL video part filmed and in the can, and out of no where Vans just says "Oh yeah, btw we're not renewing your contract." like 3-4 months before the videos release? Why couldn't they put him in the vid as a farewell part? Atleast let him stay on the team through the video release and then let him go...who knows.

idgaf but it seems lame to me.  Jlay is dope

Jlay introduced Propeller at the Vans park in Orange,CA and I just couldn't imagine how shitty that could've felt when he had a part for it. I heard before he was dealing weed and that got in the way of his relationships with sponsors, but he works for Vans now so...who knows. He rips and maybe we'll get more footage of him

If it was too much weed smoking or weed dealing then that isn't the worst reason to get kicked off skateboarding. He should just be up front and say it.

Hasn't Chris Senn lived in Hawaii for a while now? It would make sense he is probably removed from skating. Also why did somebody send in an email saying somebody on, I'm guessing, the nine club is a child molester? Something along the lines of "the only other skate podcast has two kiss asses and a child molester"

Im a Canadian skate nerd and to be honest don't really know much about this dude. Other than that he was one of the worst offenders in the oversized clothing trend and had some truly horrible sponsors. That being said, this is one of the more entertaining interviews. I think the Bunt is at its best when they are interviewing friends. After around 22 minutes it gets super funny with his stories. I thought it was one of their better episodes.

The reason jake is hating on Senn is theirs a recent interview where he pretty much says he doesn't care about skating anymore, he's the bitter dude now, and he lives in Hawaii and captains charter fishing boats for rich people, thats the Jimy Buffett reference. Regardless Chris Senn was always the worst, dude looke awful from day 1 in that Powell 8 video where he had the horrible opposite mullet haircut, the rabid dog push with the horrible pedal technique kickflips, i give him credit for being one of the first dudes to be a modern style park skater but he was so ugly in the streets.

I want to dislike him for his trendy kits, 917 ripoff and nollie fastplants but he comes off as an alright dude. I still think Becky Factory is dumb. Made me want to hear more about Zered too.

Eli is cool always loved his skating. It did take a bunt podcast to remember him but still, hope he's still charging.

Drop some more names next time, Eli.

how dare he tell stories and say who was there. you really think any of those people are gonna be bummed on that haha? the dude said himself he has plenty of crazy stories he didn't want to share, I'm sure he could "drop names" a lot harder.

Wenning is the coolest dude. Sounds like he's in a good place now. I can only imagine the chaos that was him Renaud and Uncle Freddy in Barcelona.

I'm sure if Wenning went all in on skating he would be on Mount Rushmore. Guy went from owning Benz's to thanking Kelly Hart for shoes on IG. Definitely the saddest ep yet...

I love the sober, skateboarding, and (mostly) mature Brian Wenning he's grown into.

Hopefully he continues to better himself.

Tracer:

Yes, it is undeniably a shame that Wenning didn't live up to his full potential, skateboardingwise.

But he still quickly made a huge impact on skateboarding in his prime, and was a pretty big trendsetter with a lot of tricks and combos.

That "East Coast Hunchback" style a lot of us emulated when we were younger, was a direct influence from him too.

The guy had years of severe substance abuse and legal issues, which undoubtedly effected his coverage output during that period.

But he's sober now, having fun skating for himself (and killin it too), and is happy just to be alive.
Rather than being sad, I'd say it's a pretty inspiring comeback story really, especially for those of us who grew up idolizing him

Only thing kinda sad is that he's in a halfway house, but they sometimes are helpful living spaces for recovering addicts, trying to get more sober time, since some drug test their residents.

That photo is incredible ^ , what year is that? From a tour article?

Also, I was young/dumb/isolated enough that when I first saw the DC video I didn't even realize his intro was a joke. Probably not the only kid that happened to.
And as a fellow don de la hunchback du notre dame I have to lay some respect on this niggy, you smell me?

Unreal these guys defending Wenning, he's the epitome of how not to be a pro. It's what Tony has always had over 75% of pros that go broke.

I don't like that he's being treated like a has been. The fucker could still pull off a come back as the ledge master that he is.

Like he said in the podcast, it's all about the artistic vision. He still has it.

Wenning's about the same age that Mariano was when he made his comeback. Anything's possible. I'd love to see it happen.

one of the best bunt episodes yet in my opinion. the way it started out made it seem like it was gonna be hard to get Wenning talking, but he actually really opened up on some stuff about halfway through. big ups to wenning and the bunt

Skateboarding Saves!

Checked the dates on the DC Video and Johnny Layton's switch tre at MACBA. DC Video was 2003 and Layton's MACBA cover was 2005 - so it seems Wenning had the dates more straight than than the BUNT guys.

It was good to hear that wenning is at peace with himself and is taking responsibility for his actions.

I have never heard or read him being so transparent about his issues.

And Guy didn't publicly collapse in slow motion while taking shots at his dwindling list of sponsors and constantly pumping himself up with embarrassing videos.

I think everyone would love that, but I doubt anyone matches Mariano's comeback. Even pre-comeback he had a bigger impact than Wenning (lets face it- Video Days and Mouse alone puts the dude on the Everest of skating).

That said- how sick would a Pappalardo-Wenning comeback be? And who would have guessed in 2017 Wenning would be closer to his original talent?
