come to england youll get bottles of stella pelted at you or spice addicts in the way at the spot
-
i was given a beer for doing a kickflip a couple days ago, so it's chill
-
hmmm all i get is noise complaints. maybe i'm just jealous
-
I’ve been given a beer before by some random while skating a ledge. I wouldn’t mind it, they could’ve stood in front of the ledge and stopped the trick from happening like a lot of normals do. Better for us for them to be hyped than angry about it.
-
it depends on their attitude
some people are genuinely interested, i'm ok with that
then the vast majority of people are sarcastically interested... they really want to just see you eat shit. they can fuck off
-
I don't like when people tell me dumbass tips like that. But he shoulda fucked em, I love how aggressive black girls on the street are. White girls would be the superior race if they actually went after what they wanted. Vince coulda dicked em all down easy. Anyway that's my thoughts on the matter.

Tried finding that clip of Heath, paraphrasing, "Please, just go, I don't want you watching me"
When I was a kid we were skating this ditch, this family watched from a distance for awhile, left, came back with bags of gatorade and snacks. Was pretty nice of them without being all up in our shit

it's at the start of the Dance of Madness and Despair, TIS bonus disc

I'm down for people cheering and appreciating, that's cool. I just hate it when people try to give advice "try jumping a little higher" okay buddy...

This.

Got $100 because I manualed a block once.

When people are stoked on other people skating, it gets me stoked.

I rather have random people clapping then hear, “Yew!”
Plus, the only thing I used to hear 10-20 years ago from non-skateboarders was, “Faggot!”

This. Basically everything Snoop Dogg did during the intro of Busenitz's away days part.

I had a friend who used to respond "gimme $5 and I will" every time a person screamed "do a kickflip!"
Also, as an addition to my first claim, the worst is when you eat shit in front of a random and they respond with shit, its particularly bad when its a hill bomb slam...
"Oh my god! Are you alright?!"
"Stay right there! I'll call an ambulance!"
"Don't move!!!"
My response is always "I'm fine! Nothing hurt but my ego!" even if blood is pouring out of my head.
-
Did a little 180 while crossing the street, random dudes applauded and yelled "hell yeah!"
Nice little confidence boost
-
one time at a local festival i pushed up this walkway and did a little wallride on this steep bank at the edge of a bridge. a cop came up to me and said "that was awesome man. don't ever do it again."
i was stoke.

When I was around 23, some teen jocks called me a faggot then zinged a can of Budweiser at me which skipped by my foot and lay in tact in a yard. I yelled thanks and drank the beer while walking to my house

I get shit every so often skating around campus. I fuck with it because it makes me think I'm cool (which skateboarding is not)

I had more than a few cans chucked at me by some Jason Jessee's who never started skating. Shit happens though. A friend of mine got a burrito chucked at his head once, which is impressive. Dude just went in line, bought a burrito, was starting to eat it, then saw my friend, said fuck it all and decided its best use was as a projectile, not a meal. That's dedication.

I was quite drunk at mcdonalds the other night and having a smoke before going in and I told a guy to do a kick flip and he could hardly ollie, I did a kick flip second try and he has me a smoke and a beer, the first time anyone has ever appreciated my kick flip before
-
You guys know that shit feels good when people are stoked on what your doin. Better than a cop jumping out his car, push you, then point his gun at you in the middle of the woods in Tennessee with no one around, for skating down the street transportation style. Fuck that guy.
-
street transportation style.

I will say, I never got hated on for skating from 86 until 89. Then I was 13 and who's "cool" or not was a little more established but there was enough skaters/punks that it didn't really matter. It was dumb comments like "you gonna skate after school duuuuuuude". I will say that during the bpsw era, kids wearing those huge pants got fucked with hard. I never went that baggy so I dunno, I wore uh regular baggy jeans not waist 52. But a few of my friends got heckled by every clique in school for wearing those huge pants. Every clique. I got more hate once I was like 23+ , by 16 year old kids as they drove by.

That is dedication. I would never toss a burrito

Last month I got a trick at a spot, and after I was done a little kid came up to us and said “I wanna be just like you guys”.
-
Years back I was late night bombing a hill with some friends downtown and this cop car came outta nowhere, flicked their lights on and pulled us over. We probably smelled like weed so at first I think we were nervous. The cop goes "hey we were just clocking you guys, 35! You guys are crazy" and pulls off. Peanutty experience
-
My brother and I discussed this recently. Kinda older dudes in the hood seem to commonly appreciate skateboarding.
I've had randos film me without asking at this shitty bank spot by a park. They just come up (usually wearing Brixton or RVCA) and say "Dude that was sweet (high five), wanna see the clip I got?" It's a little corny, but I'd rather that than some irrational panic/"I'm calling the cops"
Side note: Common misconception that girls can be impressed by skateboarding, the reality is that 34 year old dudes in cargo shorts are impressed by skateboarding.
-
Girls aren't impressed with skating but a lot of em think skaterbois are hot. I love it when girls yell at me from the window of their car, especially with all their friends. I always yell at em to pull over but they never do :'(
-
Had that exact situation happen the other day , phone out and every thing . I hated it. My buddy did fine but I definitely sat out a few tries because of it. It was a weird bump to gap and I was just fucking around with a shuvit flip and switch 180 cause they seemed fun for it but these people just took me out of it. Skating is where I go to clear my mind and I can’t really do that with weird la couples smoking weed and pointing a phone at me. No matter how nice you are you about it, it sucks. I don’t go up to basketball courts and film people playing a game or practicing , I’d expect the same courtesy.

Koston is now doing a series on the berrics yelling do a kickflip and giving up product to people who land it. And when I fall in front of people or my board gets away I just admonish my board like it’s a pet that just shat in the house, so they think I’m insane.

lmao, this reminds me of a few months ago. I was skating my hometown park for the first time in years, and some dad comes in with his son who was riding a scooter. Apparently the dad used to skate and was clearly way more interested in what I was doing than paying attention to his son and even filmed a couple of terrible clips on his phone that he insisted on texting me, haha.
-
Randoms can't appreciate the subtleties of my artistic expression but yeah
-
All situational. If I'm trying a trick for a while and people watch it doesn't usually bother me, but that girl in the video was being pretty obnoxious. One time at pier 7 this tourist dad started filming me and was kinda getting in my way and that pissed me off.
