Should bearings face a certain way?

I don't think it matters lol.

Unless it's a bearing like Indy's GP-S where there's no shield on one side, you can run it however you want.

The correct side depends on the retainer. The side of the retainer where the ball bearings are exposed is the outside meaning the smooth side is the inner. Most companies that run a metal shield on one side and neoprene on the other intend the metal shields to face inside the wheel.

Also Mini-logo bearings are now neoprene on both sides so the photo on Tactics is out of date.

I keep seeing people set up retainer out on one side.

It's weird. The plastic or metal goes inside or it breaks

i used to pop shields on my bearings and this long board dude in college would always whore over my setup telling me im doing it wrong.. like daily

Bronson G2’s have shields on both sides, and you can’t tell which way the cage is facing. I’ve wondered for awhile if it mattered or not.

I’m guessing not because I’ve never heard anyone complain about it. Haha

It absolutely matters.

If the retainer faces outward, it takes a lot more damage and has a high chance of breaking.

Bronson should leave only one shield on, or at least have different colored shields that show which side is which.

On their G3’s and RAWS, you can tell. But on on the G2’s really weird.

Unless there’s a secret to those bearings I don’t know about.
