Seems like nowadays there's more of a pathway than ever for former pros to still be in the spotlight by announcing contests, hosting skate segments, judging, doing podcasts, etc.. Who do you guys think does it the best? I get it takes a special skill to talk about skating more than 'daaamn... that was sick' and keep it engaging but there's quite a few heads out now that I think are annoying and could be better placed somewhere else in the industry not in front of a camera or with a mic in hand.
I've been thinking about this after watching/listening to different channels and I'm going to say Jeron Wilson is one of the best. He's pretty mellow, informative without being too cheesy, can be funny and can drop some knowledge from past experiences. I think he can sometimes be out of touch with dudes who are on the come up but overall I think he's on point. I think Chris Cole does a good job on commentating contests as well.
I think the worst ones are:
Chris Roberts
Tim O'Conner (I use to like some of the stuff they would put him on years ago but now I can't stand his commentary)
Kelly Hart
