Raw footy of Thiebaud in SF, 1989
« on: March 14, 2022, 02:24:44 PM »
When the quake was forthcoming, and Al Gore was still in his lab inventing the Internet. That 25th Mission session looks hectic, but Thiebaud seems unfazed. Fun stuff.

Really interesting. This must have been filmed right before the '89 quake as the Wong guy they meet by City Hall has the half & half A's/Giants ballcap. That's gotta be 16th & Mission at the beginning (there's a Walgreens where El Farolito would be) but back then the two plazas looked almost identical. Today, 24th St is the only station with those brick transitions. Pre-earthquake Embarcadero just looks bizarre to me. I wish that little double-sided wall at Geary & Masonic still existed.

I caught this a while ago and remember just thinking, damn Jim, get a glass of water!  It's amazing watching these episodes, ie Tom Knox, Mike V etc and the pace at which they skate.  You could for sure tell getting filmed was not the norm and these dudes all put in the work when the camera was out.  I remember being highly influenced by this part as a kid.  Had to find some Ellesse shoes shortly after.

I wish that Toys R Us at Masonic & Geary still existed, too. That's where I got my first Dreamcast  :-*

Thanks for posting this, watched on the day you posted it then a bunch of more videos from that channel, they have so much cool stuff, Ocean Howell and Markus footage and whatnot. The Tim Jackson and Ken McGuire tapes are so awesome, honest raw footage is the best and in this case also a fantastic time capsule.

Word. It was still there as late as around 2008/9 when I was skating Wallenberg a lot and we used to hit that little wall on the way. Good curbs in the parking garage around the corner too...

I saw this a few months ago. Good stuff. Is that that graffiti spot that was in the tenderloin? I forgot the name of it. So sick. I love old SF shit. Especially the crazy crayone stuff. All that robotech stuff and crazy electro future style fills. It’s iconic California style.

I just saw a primitive/ megadeth add just now. That’s crazy. I had no idea that Paul was into thrash.

Also I feel like the Cardona brothers are a advanced version of the JT style in a way.

psycho city. the walls are still there but it’s a buff. good way to get easy rep downtown but it’ll only be there for a day or so..
