Hahaha. That’s an excellent skateboarding analogy to describe the climactic feat in Fitzcarraldo, which also went down in real life (see The Burden of Dreams). Herzog (thanks to the backbreaking assistance of native tribesmen) slappied that mountain with his boat.

I was really stoked to see that short interview of Herzog on skateboarding because I’m a huge fan of both. Totally wasn’t surprised he brought up ski jumping. He does that a lot.
