Skatebag thats good for carry on
« on: June 03, 2024, 09:49:36 AM »
Doing a 5 week trip throughout Asia this summer.  Doing lots of those budget airlines between countries. I need a duffel bag that can hold a board but that can also fit into carry on. If anyone has any experience that'd be amazing

Thanks!

Travelling domestically in the US, I had no problems using the standard Thrasher duffle as a carry on with my board attached. Not sure how "carry on friendly" it would be travelling internationally though, it's smaller (on the wider side) than that Tactics one though.

I have a Nixon Hauler backpack that I love. I pack pretty light but can usually fit a week of clothes, toiletries, and skate gear in it. It has straps for a board and fits in the standard TSA carryon dimensions. I always put my trucks in my bag and just strap the deck. I’ve never had an issue, but I always travel with an old deck so that I don’t care if I have to leave it behind

I've had more success with the skateboard duffle bag combo with checking in more so then carryon. they will usually ask me to check it in. I've used the RVCA skate duffle from a few years ago.

What i've done recently more successfully is use a skateboard backpack, but only strap the deck to my backpack. i take off the trucks and put them on at my destination. the last few times i've done this i've had no issues. so if is a short trip and you can one bag it, that might be the move.

Second Nixon backpack.  I've carried on with full board with trucks and wheels on many times and no issues.  They just check the bag size and the skateboard is attached. Obviously you can't hit people with it, etc.
