Nike SB Bruin Low
« on: July 14, 2020, 08:09:17 AM »
Hey PALs, I like the way these shoes look, BUT how are the soles? I am a cupsole kind of guy. There are few vulcs that my old ass feet can handle. I can't wear Adidas Busenitz vulcs due to the ache I get from those soles (which sucks because they look great), so I wanted to hear any reviews on these bad boys. Thanks in advance

I got some Sb bruins that I wear casually for errands and stuff and I actually like the fit better than gt blazers. I think the soles may be a little thicker but it could just be placebo. I have a higher arch and from previous experience I know they skate pretty damn good. Hope this helps a bit

One of my all time favorite shoes. Bruins fit pretty narrow, and are minimal all around with regards to padding, tech, etc. They use the older style of zoom air insole with the little heel pod, insoles are flat as well.

While they don’t offer much in the way of impact protection, they keep their shape throughout the entire lifespan of the shoe, and I’ve never had the sole flop out on me like soletech shoes or even the GT Blazer.

Short answer - Bruins are the real Blazer lows, in my opinion. Similar impact protection and boardfeel, and keep their shape and structural integrity.

I'm skating some right now and they hold up well overall, but if you're worried about the bottoms of your feet then I'd steer clear of them. I'm skinny, in my 20s, and skate low-impact for the most part, but the soles of my feet have never hurt so much. It's like I have a heel bruise along the bottom of my entire foot.

I had a few pairs of Bruin lows years ago with no problem, but the ones I have now (with the small Nike logo) aren't doing it for me as far as impact absorption goes.

Check out the Proper Conquista, similar look to the Bruin but on a cupsole with a nice PU foam drop-in insole like the Vans Pro one. I skated a pair and loved them, super supportive and durable, and made by a true skater-owned company. And I think they are only $50 direct from Proper?

Just come across this thread and wanted to ask about comparing the blazer GT and bruin. I had some regular low blazers but found them too narrow (especially in the forefoot/toebox) and long for my feet, akin to converse. For some reason I assumed the GT and Bruins were wider, but have read conflicting viewpoints. I have been gifted some Nike vouchers, so ordering online.

Still on the hunt for sb bruin airmax. Found a “lightly” used pair in yellow, which actually looked pretty sick but would not get the daily wear that i’m looking for. They were on ebay for close to $100.
Highly considered it. Thats where i’m at with my search.

Any pals have a lead on where to get some?

@ok boomer I’ve got the Bruin react cupsoles and think they’re a great skate shoe. They might take you a minute to break in but the grip, fit, flick, and support are really good. There isn’t a tongue centering strap which is annoying but definitely not a dealbreaker. True to size.

If you don't mind supporting Zumiez, they have the black/white for $60.
