Ya'll got Lemons, but we got Carlos Ribeiro. It's a tough one for sure.

Edit: Fuck, you have Wes and Will Marshall too, you win.
Yes Will Marshall is goat-status, fuck you.

I devised a theory this week that there are more goofy skaters than regular because throwing your board down right handed feels more natural, as most people are right handed. So when you’re starting out, right handers will tend towards goofy, since they’re using their dominate hand to control and lead the board.

Will not be reading replies.

Problem is nobody starts out skateboarding by throwing down their board.
What about the skimboard crossover’s?

Imagine trying to teach your little sister how to skate and explaining to her that she must run and throw down with her dominant hand.

Goofy looks better on a board forever. GT, Gonz, Carroll, Will Marshall, Sean Payne. Ya feel me.

Has anyone tried to wack it with the non-dominant hand?

GOAT might only be the only contender to LETS GO in a contentious race.

You know it’s Slap when someone lists Max Palmer as a great alongside Jerry Hsu
[close]

they quote max and grant, but forget Wenning, Kalis and Williams.
I like those three but if I question whether or not a skater can reliably axle stall a 5 foot quarter, I also hesitate to name that skater a GOAT.

Interesting. Given that there are roughly 2/3 regular and 1/3 goofy skaters, goofy skaters are over represented as SOTYs, meaning that goofy skaters must be proportionally better. Q.e.d.

For complete transparency I am goofy  ;D

Where did you get then "2/3"?
I've always wondered how the stance distribution looks. I can only find some rather small studies that say up to 44% are goofy

I found it funny playing OG Tony Hawk (probably my intro to mainstream skating), and like every character but Tony was goofy so I thought it was some rare shit even though I skated that way. Then after finally watching videos I realized it wasn't and a ton of my favorites were also goofy-footed (Daewon, Koston, Carroll, Rick Howard, Apples).

There was some study about which way people shoot in hockey (based on stick sales) between Canada and the United States. It found that it was 60-40 shooting right (meaning you load power to your left leg), whereas the States was the opposite with 60-40 shooting left. I shot right, and skate Goofy) I honestly always wondered if that's why most of the great Canadian skaters were goofy (Apples, Howard, Wade, Morgan Smith, Tony Ferguson), not that their aren't great regs skaters (McCrank, Spencer and DeBobby).

Tom Penny is regular

End of discussion

Just kidding, but this has always been something I’ve pondered.

Who decided what was regular and goofy anyways?

My dick is too bent for that, too weird.
