Issues With Thunder Trucks
« on: February 16, 2022, 03:07:44 PM »
Hey fam,

Just wondering has anyone else had issues with Thunder trucks customer service/replacement after breakage?

"GUARANTEED FOR LIFE" but after I snapped my trucks their initial reply. I have heard nothing back. Numerous follow-up emails. Their Social Media keeps saying "Sorry, you should be hearing back this week. If not please let me know again" like 5 times now.

I've heard of people getting Indy replacements within weeks.

Literally never had an issue. Last time I emailed them Scott got back to me in like an hour and since they didn't have what I was looking for he sent me a brand new set of thunder 147s for free.

This is odd, because I had heard the same thing. But months on nothing...

I've always gotten very prompt responses back from DLX. What contact email did you use?

I believe Reed left DLX a couple years ago. Keep filling out the contact form on the website and DM them on IG. They will take care of you. Their customer service is usually top notch but the pandemic really messed things up.

I've snapped many Thunders and couple times i've contacted them. I would say it's gonna be easier and faster if you contact the shop first. I had to go from DLX to european distribution to local shop and it would take ages.

You are in Australia, so did you buy them from an Australian shop or not?

Aussie shops through Project Distribution are usually awesome to get things fixed pretty quickly.  The only exception to this is if the replacement set is something that is not currently in production or waiting on something, which I had heard re Thunder titanium axle trucks.

If you bought from somewhere else, then it is on them to sort it out, but the correct path is through the shop you bought them from, then to the local distributor, then to DLX.

This is often where things fall down, especially if someone along that path has forgotten or things just haven't added up, eg a board run over by a car and the truck broke so it took three months and then was finally knocked back, as that is not covered under normal wear and tear, but usually everything else is just picture taken, sent through, store gets credit and supplies you with new something, or they send out the replacement for you.

Gone since 1988.  I talk too much about skateboards.  Sorry.

Also, just to clarify "Guaranteed for life" is the life of the truck, not your life, which in general terms is about three months, so if you took them down to the axle then they snapped, or they are older than that, they had a good life and they are done - no warranty, no replacement, no matter what you say or do, or who you ask for help.

We used to hear this quite a lot from customers who thought they could keep getting new trucks for life, but that is not the case, not by a long shot, but some products we still sent back full well knowing the warranty would be rejected by the supplier, but it was what we were told to do and it would keep the customer off our backs in the shop anyway.

Some suppliers were nice enough to help people with things, but for the most part, even when people got mad and called us names, we couldn't really do anything about their four year old crusty skate product that had been thoroughly skated to death but was quoted as being "Guaranteed for life" and all that.

When it comes to direct dealings with distributors, that can be a different story, especially for people who are local to the distributor, eg people in USA dealing with DLX Distribution are much more likely to get things, when compared to other people in other countries, when things have to go through the local distro first.

Given most people are in the USA, they will often have more positive things to say as well, which is good for the overall view of the company as well as the people they have helped.

I am not trying to sound like "Mr know it all" or be a condescending prick either, so I am sorry if it comes off at all like that.

I thought tbh, the place I bought them would just blow it off as it was over a year ago and they are online. So straight to the source. You're prob right though and about the aussie thing in your second post too. I understand about the Guarentee, if grind them to death from use, that doesn't cover it.
