Good question. Sadly I was 10 at the time and had no idea the characters supposedly were stand-ins for real skaters. I just did a quick google search and still don't know who the characters were based on, but I read that scab had by far the worst ratings for tricks. Which explains both why I sucked at the game and why I still suck IRL.

Skipper was my aunt's dog she rescued from the street. He'd collect old balls from the park and bring them home to a particular spot next to the back stairs, and eventually the pile got so big my aunt had start throwing them out.
