HMC/HPX - Legacy MK2 vs HDV MK2?
« on: November 13, 2023, 02:24:31 PM »
Hope everyone is doing well.

In my never ending attempt to find a decent fisheye for 16:9 without having to spend thousands, I’ve been trying to figure out which lens would be more ideal.

Currently, I’m looking into either the:
-legacy MK2 with an unscrewed bayo and a 72MM spacer

OR

-HDV MK2 (thinner lens shade) directly via bayo

Without a side by side comparison, it’s hard to figure which is the better of the two.

I planned on using the curvature filter in Premiere to help with slimming down the vig without having to zoom in too much.

Has anyone ever had a chance to test both? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

these and the opteka (plus all the other clones) have the same width, just different coatings and vig. mk1 intermediate is my personal fav but you cant go wrong with any of them

I’m not much of a camera guy, but what are the differences from the MK1 and MK2? It seems like nobody ever wants to give the MK2 as much credit, just curious.

The field of view is way less than the MK1. Noticeable downgrade esp with a 4:3 aspect ratio setup.

Yeah. It’s not even night and day, really. The only upside is that MK2’s are cheaper.
Source - thought I was the shit with a gl2 and mk2 until I got a vx/mk10

Is there any money in skateboarding film anymore?
