Sound of skateboard - forged vs standard

So I bought Indy's 139 forged hollow and sold my Indy's 139 standard. When I pop it, I realized the sound of my board is much more soggy and not so crisp now. Or maybe you can call it solid... And I think this is change in sound is quite obvious too.

Does anyone else feel the same too going to forged trucks?

Maybe due to the forged hollow’s being lower? Maybe that difference is causing you to pop a little differently.

Every board with light/hollow trucks that I've stepped on just feels off to me compared to regular cast ventures.

Really? To me it’s the opposite. The hollow/forged sound more tinny when I pop. My friend always points out how snappy my board sounds, but I also think dry bearings help a lot…

i am not good at describing sounds, but it sounded like as if i was skating with a very thin pivot cup (i have skated trucks with no pivot cups for a day before). or lets say its just lower in pitch.

nothing is loose in my trucks and i really like the geometry and feel and pop and everything. it just sounds less snappy and crispy.

either way conclusion is they do sound different and i am not alone.

ive noticed that on the standard trucks i have skated (indy, ace mostly) i get rattle from my top washer when the weather causes my bushings to expand and contract, but only when im riding - i think its the weight of my body on the trucks that makes the bushings compress and cause this rattling with the washer.

any forged/hollow truck i have skated kind of amplified this washer rattle, im gonna guess because of the hollow axel/kingpin acting like a mini bullhorn.

i kind of just expect the rattle at this point since i ride considerably loose trucks and firm bushings

I do prefer the sound of the Cast baseplates. I noticed right away I could hear my bushings sqeak a lot when I switched to forged, but as far as skating them, I never even noticed that they were lower or anything like that. They felt pretty good to be lighter (independent) because they are pretty heavy to begin with (in fact the heaviest truck out there).

It seems like cast Thunder and Ventures combined with Spitfires makes the best sound (obviously this is 100% opinion) I could only ride these trucks and I would be happy forever.

Fresh BBS deck, cast trucks, F4s, shieldless bearings, a little play in the axles for the wheels to rattle = perfect skateboard resonance

I tried hollow and titanium trucks, idk why but couldn’t skate them, a normal truck feels right, if the board is too light it gets off, I miss flicks, pop feels off, the little bit heavier board feels right, I can control it more and get more consistency, I guess light trucks should be used if you use a giant board/wheels, I use thunder 148, 8.1~ board so it’s already light with a “normal” truck

The only trucks that sound different to me are forged indys. They have a cheap tin sound. I don’t really notice a difference in forged thunder and venture.

Standards tend to sound better imo.

They provide a more full/round sound than an empty/sharp sound that forged/hollow trucks provide.

If those words make any sense.

When it comes to standards vs forged, is it just me or are the Indy’s forged a little more squirly than the standards?
