i really dont see why people are so nuts about this game
at first i was too when i saw a clip of busenitz cruising the streets doing some kickflips up the sidewalk.
but now that the game is out it looks almost more fake than tony hawk. friends of mine have played it and say its a lot harder to do tricks in this but still, how does this look real or good to anybody? i dont see it ???

it's not that everything looks realstic and perfect, it's that it's more like real skating, you actually need to learn stuff, not just press some buttons...

thrasher skate and destroy for ps1 looked dumb as fuck, it was still the greatest skating game ever

it's obviously not gonna look like real skating , its a video game, come back in 20 years and it'll be close to looking real, at least its not the button mashing roller coaster ride that was tony hawk pro skater

i realise that its not going to be close to skating yourself
but all the huge popping out and the impossible combo's from THPS are in this as well
i know its better than THPS though for the simple reason that there were more skaters involved pushing it in the 'right' direction

There's a demo out right now for Xbox360, i downloaded it and was stoked to play. There's a little learning curve but it's pretty fun when you get past it.  The only bad part is that they make it possible to push mongo.... should never EVER be in a video game, ever! Now all the little kids will think it's OK to push mongo-loid style.

Other than the mongo-ness of it, it's actually pretty sick. You can lock into nose grinds and pop out early. And when you are grinding something like a pool or other tranny you can slide back in which is sick, it sort of gives you the feel of skating, sort of.

It's definitely way more realistic than thps though, it's not cartoony and rollercoaster-y.

I'm going to buy it for the times that i'm hurt, i'm sick of thps.

Yea like you can do regular tricks in skate if you want, but you don't have to. You can do realistic tricks in skate and they actually look pretty good, you wont see me trying backflips or 5 combo grinds, it's all how you play the game.

See in tony hawk pro skater there was no option to skate realistic, if you tried it still looked wonky as fuck. In skate you can skate realistic and its fun and gives you satisfaction when landing something after going for it a bunch of times.

what are the levels like in his game? or they real spots? do they try and jam every spot in the city into one horrible megaspot with no flow like thps?

and yes there are real spots, I know EMB is one of them, hubba hideout and theres more but I can't remember which ones

Play the game then shut up.  I thought the same thing at first, but after I played the demo, my whole opinion changed.  Its easily the best skating game.
