How much A do you ride?
« on: October 28, 2007, 01:56:28 PM »
I know this is kind of a nerd topic, I guess, but lately I've been riding some softer wheels, 95A I think, and I love it.

You can pretty much skate any surface, they flatspot slower and are just more fun to ride. Just thought I'd share that.

I have bones pool wheels on my skateboard for the past couple months and all I skate are the streets......I love it.....once you get used to them its so much better than little soft shitty wheels where you have to push 100 times per block and get flastspots in three days....I don't think I could go back......its hard to find good soft wheels though,  I maybe have to order them from a website next time on account of at the skateboard shop I ask the owner to call the distribution place and ask for them but he can never find them......I saw some good ones in that DLXSF catalogue that was posted a while ago but he can't get them.  duhhh...maybe i can find them somewhere on the internet

When I read the subject, I thought you were asking how much ass do you ride.  Street tech formula bones 101A.  Still good and still pretty white (even without washing).

I have no idea what durometer my wheels are. I haven't known in years. As long as they're hard.

I'll admit, I didn't even know what 'A' was before opening this thread.

With that said, I guess I ride standard (100?) A.

Everybody should try softer wheels (95 A or below) at least once. Preferably 55 mm or more.

They are sooo good and soo soft and such a good ride.

Trying them for the first time is like having sex without a rubber with a new girlfriend for the first time .

I have pair of like 85's, they ride smooth, but I'm not a fan of skating with them for purposes other than just cruising around.

95's are great for dusty skatelite or masonite.

92 and under for the beer store set-up.

101's and SPF for the park.

97 and 99 for all around goodness.

bothersome

When I obsessively slide around i require the annoying loud screech that accompanies rock hard wheels.
Soft wheels are slower and grip a ledge or rail when attempting a trick.
Sorry, not for this kid.

I like whatever the bones stf's are.  They roll pretty well for a hard wheel and they slide good.

ugh yeah I know just what you mean.......I've had to give up a lot of things (powerslides :-\ boardslides on ledges)on account of my big soft wheels but every time I try to go back to the harder ones I just get bummed out and flatspots in two days.........so far i find more positives than negatives with them though........

They're all hard nowadays. Don't really matter to me but I prefer one that's not too hard. When it's to hard it
flat spots on nothing and becomes a hastle to change wheels to soon.

My main setup has some wheels that I'm testing... the durometer isn't on the wheel, but they grip in the bowl like a 95, but they feel as hard as a 99. Hard to explain.
I have another setup that I swap wheels out on the time... STS, SPS, some hard Authobahns, and some old TLC wheels.
