makes sense it would look like a chukka low, the only two confirmed riders for habitat footwear according to the new austyn gillete interview in skateboarder, he says that him (austyn gillete) and guru khalsa are the only two confirmed riders so far. In that interview he is wearing a pair of chukka lows and probably/definitely based this particular habitat shoe off of.

Why is this Habitat-shoes-thing such a big deal to everybody, I just don't get it. Why this makes Habitat suck in everyone's eyes, is beyond me. To me. it's just another shoe company and it sure could be a hell of a lot worse than Habitat.

Sure, that shoe is a fucking blatant rip off of the chukka low but it's not the first and I'm sure it won't be the last. The desinger guy, Aaron Hoover, that Gillette talked about in his interview, wasn't he a Lakai designer?

Habitat sucks now, IMO because, they got greedy. Deck companies should make decks, not shoes. This is some World/Element bullshit. We all know this stuff ends up fucking people over in the end. Habitat and Alien were 2 very well respected companies who for awhile, were "doing it right". Boards made in the USA, keeping it true by staying in Ohio, had good art direction and they've put out amazing videos over the years. But now the tides changing and we can all thank Jake Burton for that one. Besides, whats the point of another shoe company if all they have is a bunch of ripped off shoes? I guess the dudes can't settle for a piece of the pie, because they want the whole bakery.

how do you explain zero/fallen, crail/lakai, tumyeto/dekline then? to me its the same shit, habitat just isnt beating around the bush and trying to trick you into thinking its some new shit that might eventually fail anyway. its an established brand with a huge following and i think it'll probably stick around. habitat knows what its doing when it comes to design and theyve proved that year after year. they shouldnt have any trouble bringing it over to doing it with shoes. sure the logo looks kind of odd on there right now, but im down to support a company who has always had sick boards/videos/riders/design/clothes, etc. and have always made a good product. AWS included.

and why should board companies only make boards? why should there be rules of what a company should or shouldnt do? were car nerds in an uproar once mitsubishi started making televisions?

also, i dont get why people still support a company (vans) who is owned by the same company who owns eastpak, the north face and countless other kooky shit, but then complain when habitat/alien is under the same umbrella as a well respected dude in snowboarding. its beyond me.

ps. im not targeting you, im just ranting about this as a whole.

what's the point of those? Why do some many companies just produce the same Vans rip offs?

It's fucking dull..

But at the same time it is what people are skating.Really simple lines and colorways.
No one would buy some crazy tech boot out of the gate, I can see why they used that design but it doesn't make me like what they're doing.
The success of shoes like the vans chukka low,the fallen forte and other companies like es,etnies, globe, dekline and others who are about to release a similar style.
When a certain sku checks companies will drop anything and everything to jump in line and gain some short lived sales off of it.

I'll agree with gordon bombay.  Just because they used the same name for their new shoe brand as their established board brand doesn't make it an automatic fail or turn it into the next shitty Element.  Element's been pretty blah for a long while.  That shoe in the picture looks pretty good.  It's plain and simple.

Alien and Habitat are still good IMO regardless of the Burton buyout.  God forbid they started getting their decks pressed in Mexico by the same woodshop as DLX.  ::) ::)  PS Stix is in Mexico and China now anyway.

When it comes down to it are you gonna put that on your wall or a chukka low from vans?  It goes with any co. biting anothers shit.  There's a reason they want in on someone else's recipe.  Even if they're made exactly the same and the chukka low is $5 more at cost, I'm puttin that on my wall before some Habitat, es, emerica, or fallen bite of it.  Don't reallly give 2 shits how bad kids want it or how good the colorway is...can't fuck with the o.g. shit for a reason.

As much as they put out new shit, the equally put out ugly shit as well. Vans is dope by all means but they create a lot of bad shoes as the companies we are bagging on.

and those bad shoes are specifically designed for the mall shop/bro/jock kids. at least these first shoes are very skateable and really only appealing to skaters. i'm not behind habitat shoes (if they wanted to make shoes, call it something else, or at least don't limit themselves to just habitat riders), but the brand is probably (hopefully?) not going to be absolutely horrible.

I don't know much about business, but they should sell em for like 60% of the price of other skate shoes.  Then I might actually have a reason to buy them.

Blackbox, Crailtap, and Tum Yeto aren't having their riders put all their eggs into one basket. Look at what happened to Jake Rupp and that Dallas Rockvam dude. They were on Element as a deck sponsor, then they got on the footwear program, only to loose it all. This puts people into shitty positions where chances are, they don't just drop 1 sponsor, but all. Call me old fashioned or whatever, but I just feel that companies should stick to their roots. If they start making decks, and it works, then why switch it up? If its aint broke, don't fix it, at least thats how I feel. I think I'm just bummed on Soverign Sect in general because I knew I could always go get a Habitat or AWS and it was gonna be made in the US, but not anymore. And then they start making what appear to be bland shoes, so they won't be getting my dollars anytime soon.

And I'm not sure about how car nerds felt about Mitsubishi making TV's, I'm not a car nerd, I'm a skate nerd.

KFC should give cockatiels with their variety bucket, so you can eat one bird and love another.
