- Sell them at my store
- Vans
- Comfy enough to wear/skate right away without breaking them in. The new TNT's are super stiff/uncomfy, as rad looking as they are.

Most important factor is that they are not made by Nike, Converse or Adidas. They must be a cupsole and preferably black suede and a really basic design.

Price, Comfort, Support, Durablity- basic shit.

High-impact things requires a solid shoe- I had two knee surgeries a few years back (flat, wide feet too), and the only shoes I can skate in since then without my legs falling off were/are ?S, and sometimes HUF (Choice)...
I'd be wiling to give Lakai a shot at some point.

I love the grip and feel from Vans Eras, but the soles and insoles provide such little support that unless I'm landing everything or just working on manuals, I get home and have to crawl up the stairs.  Vans with SoleTech/STi insoles are a great combo though. Shit any shoe with a soletech insole is a winner, imo.

?S shutting down has been one of the worst things to hear, as I've skated tons of pairs right out of the box with no blisters, pain, or anything bad, even with the bad knees and feet. I'll be giving Emerica a try (got my last pair back in 1996 lol), because I find Etnies shapes a bit too snug on the top of the foot.

My favorite shoe is the AV Era. Cupsoles that grip and flex like a vulcanized, but offer a little more padding for my feet.  If I'm just cruising around, bombing hills and doing slappies I like Era Pros or AV sk8-lows.

1) can't be made by Nike/Converse
2) must be vegan
3) must be synthetic leather if they're for skating (canvas ain't that durable)
4) must be cupsole
5) uppers should be on the less puffy side of things

By using this formula, I end up with a Sole Tech product 99% of the time.

skating is all about choosing your outfit very deliberately, going out in public. looking super sick. and then riding your board a little bit

Yes.  Yes I am.  But it makes buying skate shoes a fun and interesting challenge for me.
