No one can clean the woodshop up like Popp's can after a day of making benches.

I eat sushi once a week at this spot near my house. It's the best sushi I've ever had. I just got home from there, and I'm happily full.

I got a spicy tuna roll, salmon nigiri, and a rainbow roll.

It's an expensive lunch, but I'm worth it.

What's your favorite  sushi?

Rainbow rolls are hard to beat but when I want a sushi snack I go for a south roll. It is fried sweet potato with honey wrapped with seaweed and rice. YUM. I prefer the dirty south roll which has chipotle mayo and siracha inside it also.

As far as cleanest style, probably Pat 'The Street Rake' Rakestraw.

For me, that roll doesn't sound very good. Sweet potatoes with honey is just too much sugar...like a dessert roll or something.

Siracha, on the other hand, is fucking awesome.

I also really love tuna poki.

Answer to cleanest style = Adam Dyet
No debate, any other answer is wrong.

As for sushi, Ive always been a huge fan but lately I've been going to this place John Hollie's near one of my buddy's places. The sushi is alright, but at happy hour (3-6 PM) they have buy one get one sake and domestic beers. Its a good excuse to get day drunk/completely ignore the cultural importance of sake with the oh so entertaining sake bomb. Lay your chopsticks on top of a glass of 1/3 full beer, place a shot of sake on top of it (carefully), than when everybody's ready bang the table with your fist. The shot falls into the beer (usually makes a mess) and chug that shit.

My friends and I invented (we think) the Pearl Harbor, which is a shot of saki dropped into a Budweiser.

For me it could mean 2 things.

1. Your from Philadelphia and are subconsciously supporting your home city by liking the Philadelphia Roll
2. My roommate is jewish, and I got the Philly roll with him once. He loved it, "Its basically like schmear and lochs. Except with rice instead of on a bagel."

Hahahahaha very astute, there can be no escaping my Jewish heritage.  Sometimes the smell of cream cheese invading my olfactory even overpowers the smell of dollar bills in the room

I actually just got around to eating rolls with cream cheese. I"m not really big on cream cheese in general, so sense would make it that I wouldn't want it in my sushi. But a while ago my buddy got a Philly roll, and I tried it, and it was really good. Can't do the ones with globs of CC, though, only when there's barely any in it.

But it does add a nice texture.

 :D

Me, I can't do the cream cheese thing in sushi. I find it's way too strong and ends up overpowering everything. I like really simple rolls.

Sometimes I'll splurge and I'll get tuna tataki, which is seared tuna with ponzu sauce. It can be pricey, but it's worth it when the quality is there.

Every time I've tried a roll with cream cheese it just over powers the taste and texture and I can't stand it. It's also usually warm which isn't great either. Never again.

I went to this sushi place in Marlton, NJ once. It's 16 bucks, byob (liquor store across the street), and it's made to order all you can eat sushi. I went with my boss and one of the bartenders from my work, we put away over 5 huge plates of all kinds of sushi and sashimi. Honestly it was the most food I've ever eaten, and I thought I was going to shit myself on the drive home. My boss puked in the parking lot. I laid in bed that night proud and disgusted.

"is that a dragon roll in your pocket, or are you just happy sashimi?"

for my entire life i kept thinking of sushi as THE traditional japanese food, like they've been eating that stuff for the last 500 years or something.
recently i saw a guy on TV who is said to have  "invented it" in the 1960'ies.
now i've checked that on wikipedia (the most reliable source on the web) and it says something completely different.
does anyone have anymore input about the history of sushi?

It's kind of funny that it's on the more expensive side, and almost considered elegant dining nowadays, because hundreds of years ago, sushi was peasant food. The poor fisherman caught what they could, and ate it with rice. No one of wealth would touch it.

It has definitely been around for a long, long time though.

That's standard fare nowadays though, like how bread pudding used to be the ghettoest of ghetto serf food back in the day and now they put that shit on Top Chef and stuff.  Fois gras is considered a delicacy (albeit a soon-to-be illegal one) but used to be peasant food as well.

I don't remember, it's like Sushi Kingdom, or something generic. It's in one of the billion strip malls on that part of road. It's not very close to NYC, but it's right over the bridge from Philly. So if you end up going to Philly, I can find out the name and address if you are trying to get down on some next level hate yourself for eating so much shit.
