Shutting down a spot
« on: March 18, 2014, 03:42:30 PM »
I believe it used to happen more a few years ago. A guy would get 50 tricks at a famous spot thus making it unskateable for other skaters.

Jaws shut down eltoro (kickflip melon and tucknee) Noone can do a credible trick after that

the best example would be tom penny, switch b/s flip ?

Post other examples of pro's/ ams shutting down a spot

some canuck nollied el toro after the kickflip grab [i think] which was after regular kickflip. cornholio will prolly continue to attempt it and peel his shirt off and run so it's not 'shut down'.

Decenzo nollied el toro. That is pretty damn rad if you think about it. Predicted next trick: half cab

that opening rail assault just gives you a taste of how gnarly the part is going to be
also if you read my whole facebook timeline from back in 2007 then this will also prove that magic is real.

You just predicted a next trick on a spot you deemed "shut down".

but half cab wouldn't be shutting down eltoro. b/s 360 and another trick el toro would be shut down.

I've never tried tapioca pudding. There's always other options that are better like chocolate. What is that stuff anyways like rice pudding?

I don't believe a spot can be "shut down" some times someones just feeling a spot and can drop a few tricks..But when i think of a spot getting destroyed, Austyn Gillette's ollie at the brooklyn banks was proabably one of the hardest and most original things done there since Wenning's bank 9 switch tre or Jaime Thomas's Welcome to Hell line, which were like many years earlier. I asked him about the ollie once when i met him and he said it took him a while to land that which was surprising since i cant imagine anyone wanting to try that more than once.

Isn't it believed Sheckler backside flipped el toro, don't think that spot was shut down by Jaws.

new definition.

"shut down" no longer means "shut down."

it now means an "impressive trick."
