title and first post made me think i was about to watch 2 min of sugarcane footy
so i was more than pleased to see "the other tricks"
dude is not slowing down with age
I was actually stoked on the idea of 2 min of sugarcane variations. Still ended up being pretty sick.
Man, I absolutely HATED those Shorty's shirts with the S's on the sleeves (that almost everyone wore). Always enjoyed the pissy reactions when asking them "
what's a 'horty'?"
Quick Aaron Snyder story:I just mentioned this dude briefly in a response on another thread but the long version is that this guy and Chad Muska showed up to skate the OG Venice PIT, right when Shorty's was starting up and Muska quit Toy. Muska was tearing up the chest-high outer wall by the entrance (against the fence) off of a kicker, did 5-0 180, tailslide-fakie, and some other stuff. All gnarly as fuck since it was not only about 5 feet high but there was only about 4 inches at the top of the wall before the chainlink that separated The Pit from the boardwalk. Anyway, the other dude that was there was a then completely unknown Aaron Snyder. They moved the kicker to the stage and he was doing manual tricks up onto the stage and down, and a perfect frontside noseslide on the side of the stage but what stuck in my head was a quick-hitting line on the infamous double-sided bench's that Aaron Snyder did out of nowhere:
switch lipslide pop-over on the 1st bench then a
backside 180 fakie 5-0 on the 2nd. So smooth, so perfect, and both tricks with the ease that most half-way decent skaters would have doing a 50-50.
Aside from a little coverage here and there never really heard much of the dude after that. Good to see he's still out there.
