I think he hated Adidas b/c he was getting clowned due to this ad, which was shot by a photographer who had no idea what he was doing, and he quit right after. It is a pretty terrible ad, indicative of how non-skate companies were trying to enter skating and failing. Plus is the shoe really called the O'Reardon? Was there another model called the McGillicuddy? Did they create a whole line of shoes named after an Irish dynasty? And Nike made a model back then called the Choad? Who came up with these names?
But on a lighter and happier note, I thought the Adidas ads from the early 2000s were funny.
