France

I am going abroad for a few months to France. In comparison with cities like Paris and Lyon, which of the following cities should I rather visit and which not (skating, English speaking, nightlife etc.) :

-Rennes
-Lille
-Nice
-Marseille

that's a broad question, but here's my 2 cents:

-english-speaking will be just as bad everywhere...
-Nice and Marseille have real good weather. and beaches. Rennes and Lille have rain.
- as far as skate scenes, Marseille is the more established one. It's also a way bigger city.
-Rennes has a lot of students and is supposedly a big party town

personnaly I'd say go to Marseille, and the surrounding area. there's a lot of other interesting cities close by (Toulon, Montpellier etc)

Agree with this, when I was there I cruised from Nice around to Montpellier (one of my favourite cities) and all the little cities along the coast had amazing spots and amazing beaches. Also the beach towns have better nightlife in general.
Here's some clips of Cons in Montpellier

Paris is still the best city to skate though in my opinion, South of France cities are just really fun.

Thanks for the input! Looking forward to try living in the sunnier cities, experience something different than the north European weather.
How about the downhills? Do all those cities have them? Serpentine roads don't count.

No downhills that I know of in Lille.
Marseille has hills, but pavement is not as good as Lyon, Paris or Bordeaux.

Not sure about Nice!

I saw some dudes from the Palace team skating out in Monaco
the other day. Not much to skate there, but it's pretty nice
