Who remembers Alex Goldberg?
« on: December 24, 2015, 06:55:08 AM »
Alex didn't skateboard very well but some how ended up on World Indistries when world was the shit.  I think Rocco or someone over there caught wind that he talked his way onto the team rather then skated his way on and they roasted his ass in Big Brother issue two.  They offered all sorts of $$ to do fucked up stuff to him.... $$ to cuss him out prank him beat him up crucify him etc....

The following issue they printed the dialog of him calling them and threatening to sue them etc....

After that he somehow got on Sal Rocco's Bitch Skateboards as well as Simple shoes.  Simple even ran this awful ad of him doing a flat ground heel flip.  (Attached). Anyway the following issue Simple ran another ad saying he was no longer on the team and now just team manager.  Unfortunately I can't find that one.

Growing up as a mediocre skateboarder in NJ Alex was always around and in a strange way gave me hope that you could get sponsored by big companies without actually skating well.  Although I wasn't jealous of the Big Brother disses or the public Simple demotion.

Anyway, was just curious if any one else remembers this guy or knew what he was up to these days.

Don't remember Alex Goldberg, but I remember the Bitch team being Danny Mayer, Alphonzo Rawls, and Steven Cales.

Also, Simple is back...

They missed a golden opportunity to say "Alex is a simple bitch"
Look I'm not selling anything that doesn't have my jizz on it. I don't care how much is offered.

Haven't heard that name in a while. I grew up skating with Alex in Jersey. Alex was part of the Livingston, NJ crew, along with June Park and Mark Coogan. Both of those dudes ripped.

Alex was the kind of kid who just called industry people in Cali back in the day and would talk shit. Somehow he talked himself into the good graces of the Big Brother dudes, and then out of the good graces.

He was living in SF for awhile, I think working in the vid game industry. I have lost touch with him since.

The story he wrote in Big Brother isse one was mostly true. He was a cool, smart kid.

The name of one their shoes is the Satire.

Nike also created a shoe called the Satire.

Why is the name Satire a popular name for shoe companies to use?  Is Swift's A Modest Proposal required reading for all shoe designers? What's next, the new Parody model from Supra ( ;) )?

What if Larry David was a sneaker head and had names for all of his shoes like Dj Khaled.

"I got these J's from MJ himself. I call them "Marty don't ball" because Funkhouser wanted to get a pair for himself and I made sure he didn't. I can't even chance ever being seen in public witrh the same shoe as him. We'd look silly, like we played on the same team or something. I don't want people to think that. I'd hate playing on the same team as him, no matter what we are playing"
