A little background, for those interested.
Washed Up Warriors is a skate crew. A group of friends, mostly on the older side, based out of San Diego.
Probably not much different than your crew. Except maybe our weed is better, living in SoCal.
We’ve been running with this name for about 10 years now. Since right around the time most of us turned 30.
Over the years, some of the faces have changed. Guys get married, have kids, move away, get broke off beyond repair. You know, life.
Our first, self-titled, video came out in 2008. Then in 2011, we made “The Second Bumming”. In 2012, it was “Way of the Washed”.
Most of the crew had parts or tricks in last years “Pushin40”.( http://www.slapmagazine.com/component/option,com_jfusion/Itemid,4/index.php?topic=84234.0 ) But that wasn’t exactly an official Washed video.
Just in the last 8 months or so; we’ve printed a few runs of boards. So I guess we are a board company now. Tyrone Olson and Dave Coyne are the pros.

Ode to Bone:
I’ve been skating with Tbone for 25 years now. I would love to know how many thousands of hours we’ve spent together in the streets. If you were to somehow add it all up; I’m pretty sure I’ve spent more time skating with him than anyone else. If not #1, he is definitely in the top 5. I’m not too sure if he could say the same thing of me though. Tbone skates every single day, pretty much. I’m more or less just a weekend skater, what with working full time. Maybe once daylights savings time happens, I might get out during the week once or twice. But every weekend, by 9 am, I can expect a call from Tbone, lining up the skating for the day. He is beyond motivated. And if you’re around him, some of that motivation and hype is bound to wear off on you. If he ever slows down on the skate front, I could see him becoming a really good team manager type. Kind of like Stacy Peralta. But a hood version. Finding and curating talent. Over the years, I’ve seen so many little kids end up in the back seat of his car. Then a few years later; they are big time pros. Tommy Sandoval, Matt Brode (RIP), Kellan James, Shuriken Shannon, Lenny Rivas and more. Before any of these guys were sponsored; Tbone was picking them up, hooking them up with product, taking them out on the session, introducing them to filmers. And it’s not like he is doing this looking for an end result. He’s not building a team for himself. It’s just his nature. I think it’s actually pretty simple. Who wants to skate alone? No one. So, that brings us to DJ Martin, Tbone’s newest “kid” (he is 21). For the last year and a half, they’ve been skating together pretty much every day. There is nothing washed up about DJ. He is all warrior. I think his prime is still ahead of him. That is how he fits into the crew. He’s not old; but we still like him. And he rips. Hence, last part.

And now, here is our new video, “Highlifers”.
Broken down by parts. In the order they appeared on the DVD.
Enjoy
