Primitive Griptape
« on: September 17, 2019, 09:11:46 AM »
I recently bought a Primitive “Mystery Deck” for $20 and received it today and it had free Primitive Griptape with it.

I am wondering what people think of it like how grippy, compared to Mob, (which I usually skate, love grippy griptape), or Jessup for instance, (which I would never use, too slippery).

Seemed ok but honestly grip is grip to me as long as the adhesive sticks to the board(unlike that sale bro style garbage) and it doesn’t have some wack ass graphic on it. I cut the grip where the flag is so the graphic would be used at tail and nose and be cut off as excess.

I've ridden Primitive grip twice now as it's free when you buy direct (good sales and love their 8.25"), it's a slightly grippier regular jessup; it's also perforated.

The only odd thing is that it's a weirdly soft and thick feeling in sheet form...you know how MOB is light (jessup too) but stiff as a sheet? The Primitive grip felt heavy and really pliable prior to application. It never peeled up on me and it lasted the life of the deck.

I cut the grip where the flag is so the graphic would be used at tail and nose and be cut off as excess.

Almost 80% positive it’s the same grip Grizzly use but with a Primitive logo. Feels the same to the touch, it’s perforated, and use that same black adhesive with white backing.

What a find

Rubbing your front teeth across the nose is the standard diy grit test you can check for yourself
