Girl and Chocolate are fried. The fact that Chris Roberts still has a pro board out is ridiculous. How are either of these teams full of over the hill skateboarders who contribute absolutely nothing at all relatable to the new generation of skateboarders?
It's time for Sam Smyth and Crailtap management to stop saving face. Either put up or move on.
Crob still has a pro boars because the impact of The Nine Club is huge. Whether or not you (or others on slap) like TNC, it’s still the most popular thing in skateboarding for the last couple years.
What does the nine club have to do with Chris Roberts being a pro skateboarder. Dude has decided he would rather be a YouTuber / podcast host than a pro skateboarder. That’s all cool but hang it up And make room for the next generation. Chris Roberts has always been the least interesting pro on chocolate and stopped skating at a pro level years before the nine club ever came out.
People are buying his board because the show is popular. Craig is not going to drop his board from the line if it is selling.
We all know "Chris Roberts is selling more boards now than he ever did lel
" but truthfully they need to totally rebuild from the bottom up to have any kind of coherent team/actual identifiable branding. This whole thing of 'well golly, Chris Roberts and Mike Mo boards still sell even though they don't even skate, we're in the money here lads!' outlook is so short term it's basically braindead. It's killing the brand from actually moving forward and it's shying away from the fact that none of their brand makes any sense anymore.
If they can make an unedited video as to how Chris Roberts, Raven Tershy, Hakeem Ducksworth and Jesus Fernandez can even have a convincing conversation that proves they're more than just total acquaintances, let alone a skate team, then maybe I'll re-think that they're doing more than an abysmal job at this.
