the thing is that they hold on to the past too much. i love the OG Girl, but the fact is that they are not what they once were and rely too much on reputation. Look at companies like Baker and Real. They are ALWAYS on the lookout for new, young skaters, and promote them as well. Even if they don't end up being pro or even am (Alex Midler, etc.) Had Girl even remotely promoted any of the dudes they had on flow that are long gone, the dudes might have stuck around. Most of them leave because they never get promoted and then get a better offer from someone who actually wants to do something with them. For real though, you have dudes like Yonnie on FLOW and they are getting covers. You'd think with the vid parts he's put out recently, as well as a Thrasher cover, you could actually make the dude AM for Chocolate, at the least.
Everyone on Slap loves them some Yonnie, but is he the answer? Will Yonnie's pro model make up for Koston or MJ board sales? Just because Yonnie could be pro for a legit brand doesn't mean that Crail owes him anything. That's why it's a big deal when Girl or Chocolate put someone on. (I do think Yonnie will be on when the Lakai video drops)
Who left Crail flow purgatory to have the kind of career that any of the departed pros had? I can't think of a single one. I don't think Crail misses much.
