Skateboarding Timeline Mix-Up
« on: June 20, 2018, 07:38:00 PM »
I'm all for the renaissance going on in the skate industry in recent years, but if you were to go 50 years in the future and look at some skate videos from today, you wouldn't be able to tell what time period certain videos are from. Prior to the mid 2010's, you could pinpoint a year +-2 that a video was from just by watching it because of the gradual progression of cameras/tricks that were used/done at the time. As some people continue to use the vx in modern times and bring back tricks/board shapes from older times, it seems that we don't have a straightforward timeline anymore. Especially with this new Winkowski part. If you threw a VHS filter on it, it could dupe us all. Just thought this was interesting...

what happened is pat duffy was sent back from the future as a terminator but his program malfunctioned and he could do any handrail of that era.
he ripped a hole in the fabric of the skate/time continuum and goofy buggers from future eras were able to appropriate the fashion and tricks of the dark ages and fudge things up.

It’s like Jacques Derrida took over skateboarding.
When nothing in society deserves respect, we should fashion for ourselves in solitude new silent loyalties.
