You gotta treat the bread like garlic bread with cheese in the middle. Never mayo tho.

Old enough to remember when companies could boards and pay the bills by having good pros, cool graphics, well-made vids, and didn’t have to moonlight for TV studios and record labels and Walt Disney

They're all under the same roof now, the Sovereign Sect is back together. Suciu isn't skating for Alien. He has been skating Alien boards, Joey Guevara and Brandon Nguyen skating Habitat boards. I think the only person leaving soon is DeKeyzer. He's a mercenary anyway so no big loss.

I'm fine with the collabs. Means to justify revenue at times. When some of you move out of your parents house and have to work for a living, financial based decisions will make more sense. There's a thread in the gear section about this already, and it's fascinating to me that so many people have issues with these collabs that admittedly never buy Habitat boards or "haven't paid attention" since Mosaic.  Every company goes through its ups and downs and hits and misses, even Slap's almighty lord and savior Quasi. Joe Castrucci has been able to keep the nucleus together and it'll be interesting to see where it all goes from here in the next few years.

beat me to it

Question is where do these guys end up? Bobby would probably end up on some canadian company, dela maybe on quasi. I sincerely cant say what team i could see marius or suciu going to. Same with josh matthews. Flo mirtain to palace? Janoski graceful bow out?

Bobby is too good, and way too in demand to end up trapped as a "Canadian/International" Pro. He'll get on something good. Suciu would also be pretty in-demand, I could actually see him on the new Alien considering he has some good friends on that team.

The best question is, you completely forgot or chose not to mention Silas.

Marius would end up on Sk8Mafia through Wes.

Whatever you think of Habitat was a company right now, they still have an amazing team of skaters.

Wow totally did forget Silas. But i mean..where would he go? Does he even want to? Doesnt seem to be that active lately. Maybe bow out. Marius on sk8mafia, eh idk. Doesnt really fit their image even tho he and wes are close. I didnt mean bobby should just end up as some international/canadian pro, i meant he will probably just go to a homie company because cons is taking care of him. But he could likely go anywhere and do just fine imo.

how about girl? he's down with mccrank (as seen on yesterday's "skater's favorite skater" from transworld), and i think he would fit in with the whole pacific northwest thing they have going (griffin, simon, the aforementioned mccrank). he could slide right in for ck1, whose impending sentencing would seem to free up a spot on the roster.

Girl's always had a pretty heavy link to the Pacific Northwest, Howard is from there. Plus, Tony Ferguson and McCrank, and previously Colin who was briefly on based there. Also, a bunch of stuff filmed there.

Also, wasn't Ryan Smith on the verge of going Am for them when Zero picked him up/ he got spooked after Sheffey held him out a window.

from the way jamie thomas describes it on his episode of the bunt, it was basically down to zero, girl, and the firm to put ryan smith on. so jamie bought himself a plane ticket and flew up to canada to hang with ryan for a few days - even slept on his couch. "i went out of my way to make it happen, and it worked out." lol, gotta give it up to the chief. he even uses the word "recruit" when telling the story. must be that alabama blood in him because the whole thing kinda comes off as a college football coach paying a high school kid a home visit in order to have him enroll. https://soundcloud.com/thebuntlive/the-bunt-s06-episode-9-ft-jamie-thomas-i-just-want-what-youre-giving-chad

first time hearing about this sheffey defenestration incident though. would like to hear more about that.

Better to be on blowing it (about to blow it) or of blowing it (you blew it)?

Just to clarify-- that was Ryan Fabry and it was long before Zero existed.  Ryan Smith was probably in middle school at the time.
No, Ryan Fabry fucked his wife. Sheffey, when he was all messed up on drugs/drinking, held some kid off a balcony at I think Slam City Jam. I thought it was that that finally got him the boot from Girl.

Just looked, and it was in this thread. Could be wrong, but that was the story going around.

What kind of connects do you need to get this kind of stuff done ?

Besides a euro tm

So basically all a company has to do is call up or email a license holder with a pitch. Who you are, what you do, prio history, ya da ya da ya da.

Some licenses don’t give a fuck and will slap their characters on anything. Others are more protective of their IP. I doubt the folks behind bobs gave that much of a shit and we’re stoked on the idea of skateboards

As far as connections. All you really have to do is find the right persons email address. You pay a licensing fee plus they get royalties.

On boring collabs the license holder provides stock art that they just have ready. Or you have to get your own art approved.

It gets a little more complicated if your messing with a Disney property, but that’s the just of it.
