Does anybody remember these Spitfires?
« on: June 10, 2019, 09:20:40 AM »
I had a pair of Spitfires in like ‘06 that had spokes. It was like 60% urethane and 40% spoke. I had a random thought about them today. I remember them looking so ridiculous but I can’t remember their name. Can someone help?

Ok

By spokes you mean plastic core? I’m sure they had some silly name like ‘firelights’ (just making that up). Same time frame I bought a complete (was taking a lot of ‘breaks’ from skating) and got those wheels. I had one of those days that you always remember, where I could do whatever I wanted, and I attributed it mainly to the wheels: they were super lightweight, and it obviously changed where the board was weighted. Just felt good, lots of pop. Of course the wheels were made out of plastic bonded to urethane and broke fairly quickly.

Yep, Firelites. Had one or two sets back then as well, the first of which came with a Christmas complete my parents pieced together for me. I don't remember them being anything special, but I wore them down to the core relatively quickly. Never broke the plastic core though.

Edit: More specifically, I'm pretty sure the ones pictured above were the first set I had.

Ha. That’s funny. Must have subconsciously remembered....but much like being able to guess The upcoming rhyme in a Tupac song, dlx doesn’t exactly surprise one with their product names.

They also made a comeback on the old F-1 urethane. They were called, wait for it, F1relighters. I loved these wheels during the first drop on the classic urethane. Always wanted them in a 97a for grip and speed. Rode about 5 sets total.

Yep those are it! Mine were black on black and I went thru them extremely fast. Rode the rear wheels down to the spoke and it was the coolest noise and rolling feeling ever. Thanks
