fuck this part

fuck this video

Every now and then I try and rewatch parts other than Marc's thinking that it's probably not as bad as I remember it being and every time it's actually worse than I remember.

Ty Evans is 100% the wrong person to present the skating of Vincent Alvarez.
Vincent's strength is in his flow and push and 180s up the curb. An edit like this basically negates all that.

For a very different approach:

Pretty Sweet was my first video. The Guys in Suits sketch and Johnson’s pet where top tier for me. Cory and the Carol montage where pretty cool too.

But after most of the team bailing and unable to garner much attention the Flare has a tough act to follow.

Exhausting indeed. How this part (and all of Pretty Sweet) got signed off on I'll never understand.

The music, the cheesy editing, the wide angle lens. It's all so so bad

Edit: just watched MJ's PS part in his appreciation thread. Does anyone know if someone else filmed and edited his part? It's so different to the rest of the video. Also noticed theres only one trick filmed with the silly wide angle lens

fakie 5-0 on that yellow flatbar thing.

Yes MJ part is great, rest of the video is complete shit. What someone else said is completely accurate, you think those other parts can't be that bad, and then they're worse.

People saying Pretty Sweet was complete shit are being a bit ridiculous. Intro was awesome, Vincent, Cory and MJ all had really good parts although I agree Vincent's part would've been better if it was just the Suicidal song. Other parts weren't that bad. I think Baker 4 is a worse video.

Maybe you had to be there for ST but I just find that song super abrasive and not at all in the spirit of a crailtap video

The lakai team is better now than when the flare was released.

I'm a metalhead and found it refreshing for that time period, since it was the peak for standard issue indie rock schlock in skate vids.

Most of the full-parts in that video is impressionable kids. I think I remember hearing that MJ filmed primarily with Wheatley and Roger Bagley, but I could be wrong. But, I could also see MJ being one of the few who would stand-up and specify exactly how and why he wanted a part edited that way (and with enough mutual respect for them to listen).

That could make sense as I've heard MJ say how burnt out he was after making Fully Flare with Ty. I could see he may not of been keen on stepping back to that partnership again.

I like the indivdual songs, too, but Ty only used parts of the songs and turned it into a super corny and ennoying edit overall. Instead of emphasizing and supporting the skating he uses the skating to show his own corny and narcassistic idea of what he thinks is cool about Vincent.

I think Meza edited MJ's part. I like Pretty Sweet but now a days I only watch the first two parts and MJs, sometimes Flaco also.

Ty evans is just a smart dude and has all the money.  I wouldnt blame him for anything cause he was hired.  Id say that crail tried to have influence over Tys editing and asked him specifacally to incorporate all that disgusting crail vibe, so he was like "okay here, fuck you then". Ty did some Transworld shit i liked alot.

I actually agree with this. Fuck Ty, obviously, but there's no way Rick and Mike didn't see the video before the premiere without signing off on it.

Did you see what he did to Michael Pulizzi's part in one of his recent videos. No, Ty believes his own hype and wants to revolutionize skateboard filming. Yes, his Transworld stuff is legendary, but that stuff was filmed 11 years before Pretty Sweet.
