warped boards
« on: February 08, 2020, 06:24:05 PM »
I bought some chapman boards in a small bulk a couple months back. Recently, I took a look at them and found that some of them had warped. It is what it is, but is there anyway to straighten them out? Mounting some trucks seem to help a bit..kinda.

I would wrap them in a stack seal and hope for the best but if it from constant change of temperature like keeping them in a trunk there's little hope.

I'd kill for a box of Chapman blanks warped or not.

there`s no real way of straightening it out yourself afaik. i am not even sure if, theoretically, you could bring the board up to temperature and put it back into its mold to restraighten it.

i'd say your best bet is to check out how they ride. sometimes little warps can flatten out to a unnoticeable point. if they are already warped they might have gone a bit brittle, too. then again, chapman boards are quite hardy. if it works, it works.

Don't do that to a street board. A street boards going to last what a month if you're really lucky.

If you hear gun your board and you jump down something I'm willing to bet its over for that board

How well do the decks stack/nest? Stack some so they're warped in different directions and bolt them together with long #10 bolts? Then leave em for a few days? Weeks? Maybe try gentle heat cycles or even increasing the humidity in the room.

I got an warped Earthwing cruiser/DH board for cheap. They are sandwiched in fiberglass so you can get away with heating it and unwarping it.

Still has a tiny warp left, but has the BEST concave pockets of any board I’ve ridden, so I keep it
