Backtails on any street obstacle are a big gamble for me. Either I kind of do a shitty one, kind of try and stick and get pitched backwards and almost hit my head,  or I slide out to my chest and almost hit my face on the ground

That's me on frontblunts.

It's a curse. I dont know how my times I've fallen and landed ribs first on the edge of the ledge.

blunt fakies

when i get real stoned i think about them, and how fundamentally simple they are. lock in, pop out when your weight is at the right point in/over the transition, try to do a little fakie manny if necessary, wabam.

i've made my peace with the fact that i'll probably never do one unless A) there's an asteroid incoming and i know the world is going to end B) someone has a loved one of mine at gunpoint and demands a blunt fakie of me or C) Peter Hewitt is skating a mini with me and calls me a bitch for not committing

I feel you on this one big time.

i remember thinking to myself "i dont think a front noseblunt would be that hard" and did a few shit pop ups and landing on the nose on the middle of the ledge to get a feel. tried a few legit and slid them across most of the ledge within a few tries and thought "wow im gonna fucking do this, its WAY easier than i thought". next try slipped the fuck out, ribs off the ledge and just splattered onto the floor. never again.

I was like that way back. Sounds stupid but what changed it all was not bending down and popping too much

If I was relaxed,  zero issues.

Blunt to fakies, pivot to fakies.

Fs grinds on halfpipe vert.

Ollies or bonelesses into tranny.

Indoor skateparks.  The one in my city is slippery as fuck.  I’ve seen the best skaters in my city eat shit on simple shit just because of how slippery it is.

I broke my foot trying to bs Ollie on 4 foot transition.  Since then I refuse to skate indoor.

The only front blunts I’ve ever done have been on quarterpipes or the tops of banks, but I think I could do them on flat bars if I got up the courage to give it a shot. Maybe this year I’ll try and get over the fear of doing them

This is why I mostly skate curbs now- trying to think of a scary curb trick and I can’t. Maybe Ollie’s into 5-0s because it’s easy to overshoot

the most serious skate boarding injury for me is a broken arm(#blessed) i've broken the same few bones near my wrist twice. both times it was trying to do a lil front 180>50-50 onto a curb-sized ledge/planter.

so that

Gaps bigger than off the ledge. Rolled my back ankle really bad the first time I ever tried to Ollie a gap, and never recovered mentally from it. It's weird, I can jump on a decent sized skatepark rail no problem, but no way I'd try to Ollie that same set.

Back tails are another one. Either it just sticks or I slide out with no control and slam knees and face first to the ground. Can do a ssfsns and fakie bs tail pretty well though

Blunt to fakie and bs pivot to fakie on tranny are fucked

Bear trap rails and chains scare me. Basically anything that can wrap your leg or ankle up and snap it.

The worst injury I've ever had was from just a indy nose pick. The truck didn't lock in, instead I was on the wheel and it rolled off the coping squishing my hand between my deck and the coping which shattered my ring finger knuckle and I ended up getting thrown forward slapping my face on the ground which left me with a fractured eye socket and a concussion.

Pretty much any kind of front noseslide. Feels great when it works. Which, for me, it seldom does.

A lot of new skate parks where I am are made of super slick concrete that could give some indoor parks a run for their money. I stopped going after fucking my tailbone from slipping out.
