Mini Logo Boards
« on: April 23, 2020, 10:11:19 PM »
Mini Logo makes the perfect shape board for me. They have mellow kicks, flat as hell, 8.5 x 14.375. Haven't found anything that feels the same. The wood is shitty unfortunately.

Who can relate?

Mellow concave, mellow tail/nose is all I can skate these days . I don’t care about wood quality too much. Sometimes shit wood is alright  because it’s lighter and got some flex but obviously if u don’t land bolts they explode

Their 8.5 x 32.0 shape ain’t bad; had one a couple years back, didn’t mind it.

Man that's a trip. Somehow managed to lift a website off my friend in like 2007, and get 2 or 3 blue blanks with grey grip that was grainier than a motherfucker. Don't put your thumb on that deck!
This was AFTER our attempts at enjoying minilogos ... we wanted something CHEAPER hahaha. And we got it ...

I'm sure that website went under by '09. I have no memory of what it was. Do u Johnes  8)

Powell Flight decks are available in the same shapes.

I have one of the 249 shapes - the more pointy nose 8.5".  I didn't like it to begin with - too flat - but I have really started to like it as of late.

Honestly guys, all kook branding and cheap name brand aside skate one has good stuff for the cheap

Mini logo stuff is actually the best in its price range, I’ve tried everything

The only thing I think I can’t vouch for but it’s been a while is the grip, it’s good but gets like jessup after a while

The bearings were okay, almost the same quality as reds(reds aren’t that great in my opinion)

The trucks are great, trying to get another pair soon since they took off the kook logo from the hangar and I can hide the identity of my kook trucks that actually feel really great I’m siked, trust me once you feel how centered and decently turning they are it’s hard to go back to venture or even a thunder

I’d say they’re almost ace level, like if you wanted a lower ace 44 truck almost(I know there’s the ace 03 but they’re only 7.9” wide)

The wheels are actually pretty good too, I can’t tell if they’re just recycled bones 100’s for the mini logo 101a formulas but last I skated them they actually felt a little better than 100’s, harder but still smooth and slidier too

The decks(finally right) we’re actually a nice round shape, kinda flat but for the price to quality, really really solid and popped really good and the shoe flipped really easy too.

All in all I feel skateone has mini logo as the goto pick up and skate type stuff, not specifically catering to the experience veteran skaters who know what they’re looking for. It’s a brand based on, does it pop easy, flip easy, is it comfortable to ride and easy to get use to?

yes

Not a fan of the wood (I don't like regular Powell wood either to be fair, flight decks are pretty amazing though) but for just about everything else ML is pretty much the best bang for your buck. Things I've tried:

- Grip: Got some with a deck I bought online. Not the best but definitely skateable. Cuts nice and didnt peel in the cold. I wouldn't pick it over Jessup/m-80/black magic but as far as "budget" grip goes its one of the better ones.

- Wheels: Surprisingly good. A cut shape is really good, the 101s last a while and they do slide albeit not as well as an F4 or STF. Definitely the best $20 wheel I've skated though. The hybrids are good cruisers or for smoothing out a rough lot but they're very grippy and feel softer than the 90a they're marketed as. They just came out with a new hybrid 95a formula that I'm planning to try at some point to see if they've found a good middle ground between the 101 and 90 formulas.

- Trucks: They make the only low truck over 8" that I know of, and it's a good one. The 8.38 size is perfect on 8.25 decks and they're quite light for a cheap truck (340g or so if I recall). Turning is good but not great although I think that's more an issue with them being low than anything else. Stock bushings are really good and they have a nice grind. Super stable, great for hill bombs.

- Bearings: As good as reds, sometimes better. Like most non-swiss skateone bearings the quality can be inconsistent but once you get a good set broken in they're pretty fast. At $10 a pop they're basically disposable too. I don't even bother buying reds anymore.

Yeah I think Andy Anderson as I heard on an interview with Nigel K was mentioning them and it got me hyped on them too cause as good as stf and f4 are sometimes my beat feet need some all terrain softness to absorb the landing, it’s already bad enough I prefer cup soles cause vulcs hurt even on flat

Anderson said they can slide too so I’m down, a soft street wheel that can still slide why not

I wanted to say the same for the bearings but I fear the backlash from the die hard reds fans, guys wake up REDS are just better material Chinese bearings, they’re probably literally just a hiked up mini logo bearing that’s red

For a low truck at 8.38” wide they turn better than other low 8.25 trucks

mini logo trucks are good for a low truck and I ran them stock as loose as possible, broke in nicely after a few skates

Ah, The Powell SST boards bring back some memories. In April of 96' my first new complete was a mini logo 8"x31.75 with the
sst treatment, Venture Superlite 5.0's, mini logo 54mm wheels, black magic grip, quickies and shortys hardware. Ive rode them many
times over the years and haven't really had a bad experience with any of there products.

Rode a shit ton back in the day and loved that super deep k12 concave. Haven’t rode one recently and only think about em when I’m on here.

ML is notches above blankdecks.com/ eBay/ Crown/ Moose/ etc. I’ll cop to the ten pack of boards. ML had them best on size, shape and quality.

ML bearings vs Reds are so similar overtime just depends on what you rather do with the other ten bucks that day. Both are cool.
