Skateboarding Based Non Profits
« on: June 12, 2020, 11:40:43 PM »
It's been a crazy couple of months around the world and I'm often encouraged to donate to various organizations and non profits but it's hard for me to decide which I want to support with what I have.  As a skateboarder I want to put my money into a community that I connect with and was hoping to get information on any non profit organizations within the skate world I can keep up with.  Here are some I know of, info about others will be appreciated.

"SkatePal is a non-profit organisation that works with communities throughout Palestine to enhance the lives of young people and promote the benefits of skateboarding."

"We are an award-winning international non-profit organization which empowers children through skateboarding and education in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa. By combining skateboarding with creative, arts-based education, we give children the opportunity to become leaders for a better world. Our focus is on groups who are often excluded from sports and educational opportunities, especially girls, children living with disabilities and those from low-income backgrounds. We provide safe spaces where children can have fun, build their skills and confidence and break down social barriers by making new friends."

"Among Arizona’s K-12 students, roughly 214,000 are alone and unsupervised after school. After-school programs like Skate After School keep kids safe, boost student success, and help parents keep their jobs.

Skate After School is a Phoenix-based nonprofit partnering with schools to provide skateboarding instruction to underserved youth."

How cool that you care about these kinds of situations. I do not know of any organization in the world of Skate but I will try to investigate a bit and comment again

Boards for Bros is run by Skatepark of Tampa and kills it. I always donate to them during Tampa pro and am. The lady who runs it is extremely sweet and you can tell she does it for the right reasons.

Tony Hawk Foundation donates money towards costs of a lot of different skateparks that get built. They are on amazon smile too so if I’m shopping from my PC and click my amazon bookmark it will automatically log me in through the smile link and a percentage of my purchase goes to them. More people should use it. I got an email yesterday actually showing me how much they got through there. Only $144 this last quarter, use that shit if you guys don’t have it setup for any other cause already.
