how to make a fisheye wider
« on: January 20, 2021, 05:43:45 AM »
so, I got a 0.3x Century fisheye pro series with bayo mount for the Sony HDR-FX7 but I thought it would look wider. Can I do something about it, like add spacers or things like that?

that's an example:

Fisheye modding is the term you want to look up.

are you using the bayo mount fisheye or the screw mount fisheye? if screw mount then yes you can add more spacer rings. if you are using the bayonet mount, you can take it off and use multiple spacer rings. im just not sure what the ring size is underneath. may be 77, in which case you'd need a couple 77mm rings and a 77-62mm step down ring. even more important though are your settings. you seem to be in full auto mode.

yes I'm using the bayo mount. I tried to take it off and add some step down rings but looks like 82 is a bit too big and 77 is a bit too small, I need to find something inbetween I guess

Unless you're zoomed in a bit, definitely looks like the lens is too close to the camera. Using the spacers kinda sucks but you should at least be able to stack them and dial in the vig to where it's perfect.

So you’ll need a step down ring, 82-your cameras lens diameter, then just buy 3 spacers at your cameras diameter and add one at a time to see if gets you the width you want.

I’m assuming you’ve got the century Mk2?

Way back people used to do the Raynox mod maybe you can do something similar.
