What Are They Handing You On Your Bobshirt
« on: November 20, 2020, 05:34:00 AM »
What most significant items from your past would they hand you on your bobshirt interview for you to talk about?  What deck that you had the best time on?  What shoes that you were obsessed with?  What video that changed your life?  What instagram post that you screen shotted so hard your phone cracked?  This post was inspired by what part are you picking for you thrasher classics?

Man I miss CBS; those blanks were so cheap and skated so well.

$29.99. I worked there, it was awful. 7.5 blanks all day long, putting lines near the back truck because kids couldn’t figure out the nose and tail. This was pre 1 color bolt.

a stack of baker boards and a flattened aluminum can pipe that fucking slaughtered my central nervous system. absolutely tattered altamont alameda jeans with giant holes in the ass, emerica leos barely holding on by a thread. definitely the shoe box with all of the bearings, wheels hardware and trucks i never threw away that i used as “back up” in case any of my gear broke. most importantly the independent wallet i threw away last year that i used from ages 10-25.

The tail of a broken shop blank that closed down and I miss it.

My old skool leopard print vans shoe goo'd to death from the early 2000s

A selfie stick since thats how I typically film myself nowadays.

Some crusty socks and a few Shorty's Rosa ads, maybe some Hubba Wheels ads too.

Damn I left my bubbler at my parents house

1. Blind Jason Lee deck (Burger King graphic) my first real board that I skated the summer before 9th grade and learned pop shuvs and kickflips and I was kind of happy for maybe the first time.
2. Primus tee shirt - admitting that although I hated them then and I hate them now, I wanted to skate rails like Pat Duffy and I thought the tee shirt would toughen me up. Let me tell you, in the nineties Primus fans would come right up to you and want to talk to you about Primus and that happened a lot. "Pork soda, man. Such a shredding album..." It was the worst. Now Pat is the worst too.
3. Some Junk decks. They gave me free boards when I was 16-17.
4. $2.00 from the Muska himself. Muska "borrowed" two dollars from me when I was 16 and visiting family in San Diego. He was hanging around at Mission Beach. Muska gimme my 2 bucks.
5. My sponsor me video filmed for age 16-18 and like half of it was at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School. The only good tricks were that I ollie over someone at the Rindge sidewalk "sand gaps" and that I had a lot of funny slams.
6. Maybe just an old porn magazine like Club Confidential so I could talk about being 15-16 and skating the Combat Zone late at night by myself and interacting with the sex workers and addicts how it shaped me as a person a bit.
7. A coaster or pint glass from The Rat.
8. Set up from 2009 from Orchard when I decided too try and skate again: Dan Drehobl Krooked deck, Thunders, Habitat Tim O'Connor wheels (yeah) put together by Broderick who gently razzed me for not riding Indys. Broderick knew I was trying not to drink so he was extra nice to me and would show me the older board collection that they had in the back and I made him an Orchard one off hand painted board but I didn't seal it properly so I think the inks ran and it became glop.
9. AWS Mindfield dvd. Orchard had a screening and it was my first time at a skate video premier. I remember people at first dissing Dylan and then the crail bluntslide got a huge reaction of love. I remember people thinking Ave or Jake should've had first or last part.
10. Stay Gold dvd came out when I got sober so it's special to me.
11. A photo of a no name company in Skateboarder of one of the BQE wall rides that shows where I did some graffiti and got dissed by a crew of like twelve year olds who went over me. Now I have to fight them.
12. Video clip of my slam at the DIY quarter under the bqe I helped build it and got to watch the anti hero team skate years later. Just me and them. It was Julien, Andy Roy, and I think Austin Kanfoush. I kept my distance a bit but they were really nice and outgoing. The quarter was super lumpy and they were drinking beers and throwing the glass empties against the ramp and skating in the broken glass. Andy Roy was shouting into a cellphone and smiling and Julien was lip dancing on the quarter coping and I wanted to take a picture but I didn't want to ruin the moment.

-Birdhouse Reynolds Scream Deck, my first real board
-Baker Classic Team board that I ripped more evenly than any other board I ever had
-Toy Machine Board broken in half, toured the US with it
-Green Royals trucks, which taught me that colored trucks are whack and so are Royals
-Philly cruiser from Nocturnal with Ricta Clouds. Super fun deck to get around the city. Cruiser with Pop!
-Brick from the brick banks I blew my arm out on
-411, any. Super important from my youth
-Yea Right! This video was like my BCE/CE Jesus moment
-EE3, perfect video really inspired my East Coast skating
-Ipath wallabies, Etnies side E shoe, Rowley ones. All impactful shoes for me
-Reynolds Wallenberg Thrasher Cover, just beautiful. His landing was also beautiful. One of my favorite tricks.
