I rode a buddy's set of 53mm Nano Rats (97, with Bronson probably G3) at the park and they genuinely felt faster than my 52mm OG Classics (99, Swiss). It was just a quick ride so I didn't get the full picture. But it got me considering some factors:
  • Pavement is heating up with summer and so are the wheels, and it feels like my 99s easier slip out into a slide
  • 97s should also grip better on indoors, which is where I'll be if it's going to be hot as balls all summer
  • The Nano nut-protecting shape in theory would help as I am prone to primo
I like Conical Fulls and OG Classic shapes. I dislike Classics, too narrow. Radial Fulls too wide (but I love their speed). My grind bag is pretty basic, 50s, 5-0s, nose and tail slide variations, occasional switch nose grind. Flip trick bag is deeper. I'm mostly in concrete parks or smooth indoors. Ledges, bumps, hips, flat.

Having knowing next to nothing of Powell/Dragon/Nano wheels, anyone have a Nano Rat/Cubic recommendation if I did want to stray from Spitfire?

I am not a Dragon fan, but I would say just swap duro for duro to start.  I started at 95 in Xformula and Dragon, then went to 97 in all 3 formulas, that is where I stopped with Dragon, I have a set of 97 Nano Rats that will end up on a giveaway board now.  Then moved to 99 in the XFormula and in some other less tech urethans as well, found that the XFormula is my current sweet spot, for speed and foot soreness (52 years old) I like my .SML Wheels and Cones Wheels in 99, but they have way more vibration and chatter.  I stopped with the F4 at 97, because they "felt" slower to me.  Might have been the wheels, might have been the bearings, might have been the environment.

I will also add, I have a set of 97 Speedlab Shrimps that I really love, they are standard urethan, so they roll harder than a 97 XFormula/F4/Dragon

Bones V6 is a great all around wheel shape. The ride patch and overall width are fairly close to OG classic/conical full dimensions with a side cut that locks in great. They also have a little bit of roundness that helps with flipping the board without being full on skinny golf ball shaped like classics.
