"SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW" - Detroit
« on: April 23, 2021, 12:00:55 AM »

Filmed during this past Fall/Winter in Detroit. Every clip is in Detroit with the exception of a few "old" clips in one section that were filmed a short distance outside the city's border.

I didn’t get to finish it cause the kiddo needed fed. But what I saw was fucking great. Also that bald dude with the gnarly beard I follow on the gram. He is so smooth I really enjoy his skating.

Watched yesterday. Amazing work. I love independent scene videos that are well-done.

You can tell the amount of care and passion that went into this production. Great soundtrack, ripping skating, and a little window into what seems like a rad scene.

A+, thank you for sharing this with us.

Thanks Slap Pals!

Yeah, Brennan is so good. He really should be hooked up by someone, but it's pretty hard to make anything like that happen in Michigan. He's currently visiting the west coast and I think just put down an NBD(?) at Third and Army.

Those tables are huge too - especially the first metal one.

I'm a big fan of Mr. Numbers. Love his style. He filmed his section in just a few days while visiting Detroit.

Australian here, is Detroit still considered dangerous?

approximately 7 square-miles of “Detroit” is “safe,” “New,” being “reborn,” hip, “gritty,” offers lots of choices for fine cuisine, is a great place for artists evidently, is having lots of money and resources poured into it, is heavily monitored and policed, and is quite consumer friendly--it is indeed quite mall-like in the center of the city in this regard

most of the rest of Detroit’s 139-square-miles is populated by poor and working humans who have lived in the city their entire lives and who live in what is arguably the closest thing to total economic and geographic isolation ever engineered in a major American city, and consequently there is the kind of pervasive violent crime that this kind poverty and desperation generates...

I am glad I took the time to watch this. It encapsulates what skateboarding is all about: The city is your playground. It is fascinating for me to see Detroit from the skater's perspective, thanks for that. And yes, last guy has hella pop.
why come?

I'm not from there but have spent a lot of time there. I really appreciate the way you framed this, and I'm sure anyone else who lives there would too.
